No, they hadn't crossed by the time the fielder had thrown the ball. It seems an odd rule and a tough one for umpires to call in real time. A TV replay would've confirmed it but they can't refer every decision.

Batsman hadnt crossed by the time the fielder released the ball for his throw. Abit like the offside rule. Stokes didnt get passed Rashid by the time the ball was released so that run shouldnt count

So there is 1 run and 4 overthrows

Im surprised the 3rd umpire didnt chirp up aswell. Cant blame in on the 2 blokes on the field who had chaos going on around them

In their heads they was probably trying to work out if Stokes had meant to hit the ball or not

Stokes would have still been facing the next ball. They did cross by the time the ball reached the stumps

If a run out occured instead Stokes would have gone

Tbf alot of rules are bollocks. We tied over 50 overs and tied over the super over

The superover should have been replayed

You can't award a single but have the bastmen facing/not facing as though they ran two. I think the key is that they hadn't crossed when the ball was released so that second run was effectively dead. If a batsman is caught before the pair have crossed then they are sent back as the run is dead.

    Complicated!

They should have had the Super Dooper Over on another Super Sunday followed by Liverpool v Man City and Manchester United v Chelsea.

So many stupid rules. Tbf I think they should change the rules so if the ball ever hits a batman who is running accidentally it should be considered a dead ball

Obviously if Stokes deliberately tried to make contact with the ball which clearly he didnt he would have been given out

The thing is there was 482 runs scored over 100 overs

To try and pin point 1 thing is impossible

Caught the ball and stood on the rope, overthrows, dodgy lbw’s etc

I think both sides was superb. New Zealand handled the pressure the better I think. With abit of luck which is needed sometimes and having the best New Zealander on the park swung it our favour

Unbelievable match. First time cricket will have been front pages news in this country since the Ashes 2005 for positive reasons
