That was a very comfortable and extremely satisfying win today. Good to chase down a total too should a good final New Zealand are tough competitors

When she can hit Lyon's first ball for six, she'll deserve it

    Would he though?

If he were playing in the era where Sampras and Agassi were boring their way to victory he'd no doubt have been swallowed up much like Henman and Rusedski were or, looking at the wider landscape, players like Ivanisevic or Rafter who were brilliant players yet rarely (if ever) tasted Grand Slam success. Similarly, if Murray emerged at the same time as federer he would have avoided Djokovic and Nadal - but he would've had to contend with Roddick, Hewitt, Nalbandian and Safin, all of whom were successful players in their own right yet all ended up overshadowed by an emerging Federer very quickly even before Nadal and Djokovic got established

That's the thing with tennis, it's rarely one player dominating the landscape, it's always two or three so it's not as if the trio of Federer, Djokovic and Nadal is an uncommon thing, after all in the early 80s it was the trio of Borg, McEnroe and Connors dominating the landscape, while in the late 80s it was Becker, Lendl and Edberg doing likewise

    I agree to some extent.
He's more of a B+ player than a true A grade one, but the current big three are a class above the Hewitt, Roddick generation and I still maintain that he would have been more successful in most other modern eras. Had he won more, the criticism would be less valid.

Rafa Nadal is battling his greatest foe on Centre Court

But enough about his ever-receding hairline...

Somebody wrote an unbelievable script for final of the Cricket World Cup.
    Ridiculously far fetched.
    Did that really just happen?

That was so tense, New Zealand so unlucky, but an England team that didn't buckle was great to see.

An amazing match and such an incredible finish - Ben Stokes hero of the day for sure

I believe the commentators were selected by the ICC - Nasser (who was superb) and Athers were picked as the English representatives

Luck always plays some part in cricket - edges just missing the stumps, catches falling short of fielders, edges going for four runs etc, but the ball deflecting off Ben Stokes' bat for four overthrows in the last over was outrageous. It had a decisive bearing on the result and was something New Zealand had no time to recover from. Really harsh on them.

Where do you watch your 20/20 Alfie? I generally take in a couple of matches at Canterbury, and this year I am off to the Oval to see Surrey v Kent

Pernell Whitaker has died at the age of 55.
Someone finally worked out how to hit him, but unfortunately they used a car to do so.
    RIP.
