I don’t think he’s looked a that interested for much of this season, and probably realises that CLC will edge ahead shortly. Doesn’t want another Ricciardo situation.

Have Red Bull now scored more points in half a season with Honda than McLaren did in 3 full years?

    No sorry .

He's proved he has mental fragility when it comes to racing . He can do one as far as I'm concerned .

UNLESS they rest CLC for the rest of the season and replace him with Hamilton , just so SV fails to finish another race this year :)

Today's biggest talking point, a William's finished ahead of a Ferrari... totally legitimately, kinda

Difference being Vettel has 11 years now, Lewis only had 4 in 2011.

    Hardly a direct comparison.

Vettel is consistently making more mistakes than any former champion I can remember. You can't deny he is screwing up a lot at the moment.

The other difference is Vettel is a 4xWDC and you would expect him to know how to manage pressure.

Ever since Ricciardo started beating him at Red Bull he has progressively lost confidence, and then the second half of last year was a disaster on a par with Hamilton's 2011. The big difference though was that Hamilton came back stronger in 2012 and Vettel still seems to be stuck making mistakes. I also sense that he can't be enjoying it much.

He might just need a win to get a taste for it again. There's no way he can just give up. He's got years left.

Problem is Germany could give him the jitters after last year.

He was on course to luck in to a podium today, that could have ignited him. But alas

He could have had several but kept chucking them away. It's not like these errors are one offs, there are so many of them in the races now.

True.... I don't get it. Maybe he needs some kind of mental coaching. He has the ability, he's just making bad decisions and being too hasty.

Kind of reminded me of some bumps he had with Button.

Back then they said he couldn't overtake.

    Where do we stand now?

Vettel was kingpin at Redbull with a car that was the best. Ever since, he has messed up. It is mental and if he isn't getting coached he needs to be, spend some of that 30m he earns on it. He needs to deliver in the second half of this season or he is yesterday's news or news for all the wrong reasons. He has shown he can't fix this by himself. Based on post race interviews the team has lost faith in Vettel. Think we were all entertained by this race. Brilliant stuff.
Have to say, if Verstappen had gone into the back of Vettel we would have condemned Verstappen for doing so, so Vettel should receive the same treatment, except we all feel sorry for him.
