I don't like him as captain but Ross sees him around the ground, in training, etc.

He obviously cares and must have respect from the squad.

    Que Sera imo ...

    Frankly bizarre decision.

No influence on games, not massively vocal, gets bullied out of games at this level, costing a shirt for a creative player.

He’s not a bad player, he’s just a massive scoop of vanilla in an already bog bland central midfield.

    I don’t get it.

How can you choose him over somebody as experienced in the game as Leadbitter? It totally beggers belief and it also puts a shadow of doubt into my mind about Ross and his capabilities in getting us out of this league.

Now that he is nailed on for a start each and every week, we now have to pick 2 of the following Mcgeouch, Power, Leadbitter, ONien, Robson, Embleton, Mumba and potentially Dobson to partner him <confused>.

I cant see Embleton getting a sniff next season and now his contract is about finished he'll be off. That will be another young talented player we lose for feck all.

Bizarre decision, unless he is 'club captain'.. I could get that if he lives and breathes the club.

To be fair as quiet as Honeyman can be Leadbitter is even quieter, experienced he may be but he's not captain material for me. If not Honeyman or Leadbitter who do you give it to? Power's a good captain when he keeps his head but he probably won't start much. After that there's McLaughlin and basically nobody else.

That bunch of CM's are also all more defensive, we don't have many who play further forward like Honeyman. Also I remember him being dropped many times last season despite being captain but he took it on the chin.

    Awful decision this season.

Seemed a good idea last in the absence of anyone else, someone who will literally give anything for us.

Not a good decision this year. He's out of his depth even at this level for me just playing let alone as our club captain.

Imho it is a mistake to make somebody captain, who by most standards does not earn a starting place.

But surely the standard that carries any weight is that of the manager. Also the word ‘most’ is problematic. You are of course entitled to your opinion and most decidely entitled to express them but to assume most fans agree with you must be difficult to substantiate.
As JR has said captain on the field isn’t all important as ALL must shoulder responsibility.

Yeah think it’s a “club” captain vs captain in the day Scenario really isn’t it.

    Donald has Said
I am working on things for long-term benefit of the club regarding investment.

"When I announce them that is the time to judge my actions rather than by a Sun newspaper article - which of course originally said it was all going to be done 10 days ago."

It comes after Donald appeared at a talk-in for Sunderland fans on Saturday night.

Unsurprisingly, potential investment was a hot topic among Black Cats fans and when asked whether Sunderland will be bringing investors into the club this summer, Donald replied: "Maybe. Look at what we say, not what the papers say.

"Long-term, we need investment. Do we need it this year? No. Do we need it next year? No. It's required long term.

"Will we do something this summer? Maybe. But I'm not sure there's a better option than us at the moment.

"Loads of people have expressed an interest. Up to 14. Theres loads of interest but it's a case of a) Will you move to the area. B) What's the plan etc. That cuts out 95% of people and there's one or two that remain."

Donald had previously stated that he expected to be Sunderland for many years to come and he reiterated that he would expect to be chairman for the next 'four to five years', regardless of whether the club sees new investment.

"I would expect to be chairman for the next four to five years, but only if it's right for the club. We think we can raise investment with the same ethos for years to come, with us involved."

Is he your new Cattermole? The great midfield player who has never played in midfield for us because our great manager plays him full back cos Leadbitter and Cattermole are better in midfield !!!
Why a makeshift full back captain ? Eeeeee, people like you give our club a bad name.

Simply because he strikes me as a leader as I said in my post. Fully qualified and then ignored by your good self. I Also Notice how you quote only my post and not the other agreeing with me from @Teesdarlomakem. Funnily I’m not surprised.

Idiots like you give our club a bad name make no mistake

Morning MBC, its you who rates Honeyman, not me, him and Cattermole are part of the reason we find ourselves in this mess. I wouldn't class you as an idiot though, it would be unfair on idiots. Keep up lad, Ha"Way <hug>
