Geez, you guys making me sweat Okej, lets try to clarify it again. 1: There are NO points. Either you're through or out. 2: If you pick Man United (god knows why you would) to win during week 2. You CAN'T pick them again. 3: There's no money involved, complicated enough. 4: I'll put it all into an Excel document. You'll see the progress there. Below is STRICTLY an example, not the actual picks for week 2. 5: Could make a running table of it with points, but it'd be a lot more work, not sure I could be arsed. 6: The established round will be confirmed in more than enough time before deadline, whether it's a FA Cup weekend or not. 7: I'm aware this could all be over in a few couple of weeks, but it's also kind of a first try. I'll figure out something for the risk of postponed/abandoned games. As I said, we COULD do the running table with 1 point for each correct guess, but feels like it'd also remove some of the importance for each prediction? It'd change the game in general. Depends on what you guys think.
1) You pick a team to win. 2) If they lose you’re out. 3) If they win you pick a different team to win. 4) Repeat 2) 5) Repeat 3) 6) Repeat 4) & 5) until there’s only one person left. 7) They’re the winner. It’s not ****ing rocket science folks.
Having fun for 5 weeks doesnt sound bad! Nah, but I understand the concept that it could be fun if everyone had a chance to catch up with getting a point for each pick, etc. BUT. 1: WAY more time consuming for me. 2: People tend to give up anyway. Take Fantasy Football for example. I wonder how big the % is that stops making swaps after a poor start or they forget a round. This concept makes each prediction WAY more important It's all just for fun, not even a Proschwitz shirt this time around, if someone doesn't wanna join there's plenty of other decent threads
Understand, the amount of work may well mount up as myself & Duffen's_Briefs have discovered. It's the bitching & moaning that can kill something like this. We usually start out with approx 30-35 punters in the first couple of weeks of a season, which over the following 7-8 weeks reduces to a steady & permanent 22-25 regulars for the rest of the season. The same players end up the regulars pretty well every season. Duffens choses the fixtures, I collate the results. Probably takes me about 1 hour per week to review , log & publish the results on a spreadsheet, and maybe another couple of hours to report the season-to-date totals/stats every 5-6 weeks through the season. Biggest problem with your current design I see is keeping track of which team has been used by which player on an ongoing weekly basis. 92 teams X 20 regular players is a lot of effort to maintain, even though the chances are the elimination of contestants will likely be around 50% per set of fixtures. Hint: Don't trust the buggers, they'll try to pull a fast one all the time !! Half kidding See last page (53) of Predictions League in above stickyed thread # 3 to see typical weekly & frequent season to date stats spreadsheets. Not sure if you've ever joined the predictions league thread before. happy for you to do so - probably 15 mins per week effort. !
How about: 1) Any fixtures left ? Yes - Go to 2) No - Go to 4) 2) You pick a team( still available to you) to win. 3) If they win, return to 1). Else go to END. 4) Only one participant left - you're outright Winner. More left - joint winner 5) END: OUT of competition. Much tighter.
We'll go ahead as originally planned. Please only make a prediction for week 1 and not for upcoming weeks unless something else is confirmed further ahead. Mustyfrog: You pick 1 team for week 1, not one team from every division, sorry if this was unclear. As it looks right now. Please let me know if someone is missing out
