Done this at work for a while but for money. When somebody wins (or everyone loses) we usually just start again. I'll go Boro.
Oh, I'm not suggesting money. Although the one we do, 10% goes to charity and the rest goes to the winner. I'm not sure how trusting people would be giving money to a stranger on the internet.
'Oh, I'm not suggesting money. Although the one we do, 10% goes to charity and the rest goes to the winner. I'm not sure how trusting people would be giving money to a stranger on the internet.' HUSTLE ALERT. Are you in with Febbos?
Let me understand this. I'm assuming no match through the season is postponed/abandoned). 1) Everybody picks 1 team per week throughout the season 2) can't pick any of the teams more than once per season (each picked team that wins the week you pick them gets 1 point ?) 3) If your selected team draws or loses on the week you select them , you're out of the competition ( not given 0 points ?). 4) The winner(s) is/are the one(s) left with the most teams they have selected that won on the week they selected them. 5) The remaining (92-46 = 46 teams) not picked during the season are irrelevant in the determination of the winner(s) 6) Anyone who misses a weekly submission get s 0 points for said week/fixture set, but doesn't have lose any of their remaining teams in their list. There are 92 teams in the 4 leagues ( 20 PL + 24 from each of the other 3 leagues). Those 92 teams in total will play 176 games over the season. Approx number of weeks with full schedule of fixtures is (my experience from the other predictions league on this forum) between 39 - 46. In other words, if anyone gets every week's selection wrong (based on the max weeks of 46), they would end up with 46 unselected clubs at the end of the season. Bottom line is, whoever gets the highest number of points for the selected weekly fixtures ( based only on 1 point for each WIN predicted correctly) is the winner(joint winner perhaps). Teams not used are disregarded in the determination of winner(s).? If matches are postponed/abandoned because of weather, insurrection, strikes etc need to be brought into the fold as late adjustments to the tally, unless you establish the rule that it's unfortunate luck for those who select the involved teams that week. What about FA Cup matches throughout the season ? Good luck Febbos. A **** load of work I suspect. Apologies if I'm missing something simple here - it's been known before
Another name could be last man standing. Hopefully this is a simple explanation: You pick a team. Team wins, you go through. Team loses or draws, you're out. You can't pick this team again until the next season or you've managed to guess every game correct, then it restarts. Last one standing wins.
That's a good way to explain the way I originally thought the op meant. My concern is that roughly 50 % of participants may be eliminated each week from those who go into any given week. This is based on my experience with the other predictions league thread we have every season, which means the lack of interest will soon appear and kill the enjoyment/competition. Allowing everyone to stay in even if their weekly team selection fails to win, at least they have a chance to recover their standing in the league ? Just a thought.
How would we keep a track of not using the same team more than once? Are you offering to umpire Febbos?
