How would The Invincibles do?

  1. They'd finish higher than Man Utd only

  2. They'd finish higher than Man City only

  3. They'd finish higher than both

  4. They'd finish below both of them

  5. No fookin idea

I can't see any English team stopping City regardless. They would be too good for that Arsenal side but I feel they would beat Man Utd as they are a fairly open team.

I can't understand why everyone seems to rate Chity so much. They are not a proven team, OK they've won the FA & have got an awesome team on paper, but they are yet to prove themselves in the league & there's a long way to go yet!

He was out till the summer with an injury, then as he was recovering it got an infection, so he's been out until now.

He is back on the bench (or starting line up?) for Spurs on the weekend, and according to our medical people he is fitter than he ever was. People forget Gerrard has been playing with niggles for just over 2 years now, and he's still been pretty damn good, even if he hasn't been playing up to his usual standards.

It remains to be seen if he'll get back to his best but IMO he's been written off already by most and I think he's at his best when he's got a point to prove, so I hope comes back and shows how good he actually is.

Where do you think he'll fit into your system and who will have to drop to the bench to make way for him? Adam? Lucas? Henderson? Gerrard off the hole? Or Box-to-Box CM?

Lets remember that henry was possibly the best player on the planet that year. Add in bergkamp, who was just absolutely world class. Then you have vieria, who is far superior to any centre mid currently in the premier league. He would of made a world 11 in his day. Then you have pires, who although wasnt as good as pre his knee injury in 2002, he was still fantastic. Again the core of campbell, toure, vieria, pires, bergkamp and henry would win the league.

Its easy to forget just how good henry was that season. I think if you took him alone and put him in the current arsenal side then we would become a threat once more.

Might see him slot in as a right midfielder in a kind of free role, where Henderson is playing at the moment. Or in behind Carroll, with Suarez moving out onto the left or right wing. I think Henderson is the player most likely to make way for him, as I can't see Suarez, Downing or Adam making way for him.

I voted for the Invincibles, they were absolutely flawless and fantastic to watch even though they were the opposition.

dennis bergkamp was the greatest player i have ever watched in my entire life bar no one, even now i still have bergkamp 10 on the back of my arsenal top (sorry RVP, but there can only be one number 10, it was actually a disgrace that gallas got to wear that number)

The Invincibles didn't need to beat Man u. They still finished 15 points ahead of SAF's team.

Your statement about this current Man u team being 100 times better than the 03-04 version is just odd. Ridiculous hyperbole tends to make a persons argument null and void.

    Can't agree with you there.
I'm no Utd fan but that side would have had Rooney, Ronaldo, Saha, Scholes, Van Nistelroy, Giggs, Keane plus a host of other internationals (Nevilles, Forlan to name 3), can't accept that team would be the worst/second worst team in PL history.

Vieira - probably best CM to grace the league
Bergkamp - among best AMs to grace the league, an absolute genius
Henry - Best striker to grace the league?

Hahaha Vieira! Are you even going to try and justify that? What about the single most talented player that has ever graced the centre of a pitch in English football history, Mr Paul Scholes?
I will allow you to backtrack and say best DM which is still up for debate as Roy Keane was obviously better IMO. The Vieira/Scholes debate isn't even open for discussion, it's a non-starter. I can give you the names of about 30 top pro's that have all said Scholes is a complete player including Zidane, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Pele and Maradona. Not one of them will have heaped anywhere near the same amount of praise on Paddy Vieira....shocking.

Bergkamp, yeah he was awesome. Not going to argue that he was one of the best.

Henry, world class by anyone's standards. Total professional and great goal scorer. C Ronaldo better in my opinion. Alan Shearer was better, FACT, his goals to game ratio is better than Thierry Henry's, couple that with the fact that Shearer never had the benefit of playing alongside the same calibre of player as Henry, then he tears Henry a new one.

As for the invincibles... the current Man Utd team would absolutely destroy them. Obviously! Seriously they were a top side, but they couldn't beat us that year, two draws. They also lost at home to Inter that season, which I like to remind every Arsenal fan of. Also their tally of 90 points has been beaten several times, mostly by Chelsea. Would you rather have 37 Draws and a win to give you 40 points or would you like 13 wins, 13, draws and 12 defeats to give you 52 points? You'd finish higher up the table with 52 points but have the tag of invincibles with the first option. Fair enough Arsenal did win the league but they make out as if they won every game when in fact, they only won 3 more than Man Utd who recorded their worst season since the Premier League was formed!

These MoanU supporters make me laff. For all their titles & silverware as soon as there is the merest suggestion that another team has out done them in some way they start crying about it & try to belittle it
