I think that's why we reviewed just then, certainly. It didn't look plumb (unlike Finch's), but it looked like there was a fair chance of at least getting umpires call - which of course it was.
The situation is tailor made for Smith though. He'll relish the opportunity to turn around a SF for his country. Possibly more so than any other batsman in the world. This looks more out than the last one. But no review this time. Inside edge.
Was just a matter of time. He was all over the place. So tough for someone to be parachuted straight into a SF.
It's having its second outing. It's first outing was at the Rose Bowl vs WI - the only time (so far) we've won when chasing... Archer and Woakes were brilliant up top in that game too.
This is a big call from Australia. Carey has been the best no.7 in the competition. By some distance. So much so that after Warner and Finch, he's been their best batsman. Moving him up to no.5 could be a great move therefore, but it could alternatively take him away from what he knows. He's saved them vs WI and NZ, when they were 5 down for very little. If that happens again here, he'll presumably be one of those 5, and therefore unable to save them this time.
By the pool in Cyrpus listening to wicket after wicket fall on the radio - life doesn't get much better!
How many will Oz get? 240/50!! Then the pressure is on England, which is very achievable but this is a SF and nerves will play a part. Good toss to win.
I was going to give gym a miss this morning...then I reckoned I'd bring England bad luck so went. Came back....3 down..boom, boom. I hope I don't bring bad luck by coming back.
No obvious sign of any demons in the pitch. New ball did all sorts, but nothing since. Makes things very interesting for us when we come to bat, given that we generally do our best batting early on. Blood is still leaking out of Carey. That really is some damage. Here's me hoping that he won't be able to play for Sussex against Hants next week!
Superstitious are we? Are we really that fickle that England´s fate is down to this? Surely not. I feel Stokes be a non hero with the ball, but with the bat, a hero, but will it be good enough?
I’d give Archer and Woakes another couple of overs each, we need to break this partnership, and Carey obviously needs another bouncer.
I know these two are both going along nicely, but until/unless they start going really hard, I'm content with us trying to get of our 5th bowlers 10 overs. This is over 8 of Stokes & Rashid. And as I type, wicket! Vincey!
