I've got a load of pearl jam stuff, loads of their live cds and I also have an Eddie Vedder solo cd played only on his ukelele. Been a fan since 1991 and he's still going well.

A few years back I was just home, around 3. 30am, after working on security in Cannes.

As usual I couldn't wind down so asked for some help from Mr Moretti. I switched on French TV in the desperate hope that there would be something of interest .... which was rare tbh.

A ludicrous long fantasy film, which is now a firm favourite, came on and I was engrossed. I sat there, for what seemed like hours, eventually forcing myself to stay awake. I was just about to turn it off when I heard the first few bars of a beautiful piece of music ...

    ... "Man of the Hour"

When I read up on it I found Vedder had been asked to provide a closing song for the film and went back with it the next day!

I admire talent like that, even though its heavily tinged with jealousy.

    Thanks
It's interesting to people interested in Pearl Jam/Vedder and Sid who has just seen him.

Just been sent this from someone on the Mag board who knows I'm banned. It appears that despite the 'takeover', Rafa's walk out, the lack of a manager/signings, etc, etc, etc the biggest talking point is a poster who they all claim to have no interest in.

Three days of discussion and more posts than they sometimes manage in a month.

Have they absolutely no dignity ffs <doh>

"He usually ends up back on his own board seeking moral support by claiming to have dropped a couple of bombs and then left people to scurry, or how people are always talking about him."

Smug, I lived and worked among them for 16 years and this does not surprise me at all - they really are obsessed. Unfortunately re gossip etc. the males are far worse than the females!!

p.s. and the Consett mags are usually the worst.

Wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Apparently we're snowflakes for banning some of theirs and then they ban you for saying John McCririck was unfunny. Makes you wonder...

I said I always thought McCririck was trying way too hard to appear eccentric and that I believed he was a fake.

Some of their own said far worse.

But in the minds of people scared of an intrusion into their sad clique that deserves reporting and a ban.

They just can't handle anyone who doesn't play the game with their ball.

I don't go on Twitter but I was just sent this .... seems a full scale argument is kicking off with Mags & Sky about the Sheikh flying in to save the Toons.

It appears they have people tracking his plane ...

... that's bound to put him at his ease like <laugh>

    You’re off your tits mate.

He’s the only reason you stayed up last season and no mistake. Palm off your ‘30, average’, absolutely full of ****.

I work with a load of Mag season ticket holders who know for a fact he was the key to everything. He got you 30 for Perez, he kept you in the ****ing league.

You don’t get to ‘begrudge’ Rafa anything. He decided he was going 6 weeks before your season ended. You can call all your ‘blue waters of the Premier League’ **** all you like, but I tell you what, to a man we ENJOYED following our team last season. Finishing an also ran in any league is still meaningless. Keep your PL badges for a year mate, kid yourself losing your most important player is immaterial, we will continue to follow our side no matter what tier we are in, with the certainty that even when you’re ‘up’ on us, you’re still down.

Sunderland, proudly, till I die. (With no delusions of grandeur xx)

Totally agree with you mate, he is the only reason we stayed up last season, and the season before. He's the reason we got promoted from the championship the season before that as well (with a little help from Brighton on the last day).

Am I sad he's gone? Yes of course I am, he's hands down the best manager we've had since Robson and could have gone on to greater things had our owner shared the same ideas.

As things stand right now we're pretty resigned to a dog fight next season and we may lose, but a lot can happen between now and next May.

I was talking about Rondon mate, apologies for the passive aggressive nature of the post though I was hammered last night <laugh>

I think Rafa is easily replaceable for a club who’s ambitions are to simply survive, you might actually break out some football as well without him.

Drunk posting....treacherous waters that mate, no harm done.

Don't get me wrong I'm sad that Rafa has gone but purely from the aspect that we have lost the best manager we had since Sir Bobby and the potential for good things has been lost in my opinion now. I wasn't a massive fan of his particular brand of football but it got the job done on a lot of occassion but jesus was it frustrating to watch! He's got our defence drilled very nicely now and we have some really good options there now and our midfield is pretty decent as well.

Rondon has gone back to WBA but he may well come back, if he doesn't we move on. Perez going was a no-brainer...silly money and twice what he's worth in my opinion. That leaves a massive hole assuming Rondon doesn't come back. Almiron may well thrive in the role Perez was playing and with some further additions (strikers please) we should be ok.

We're not looking good on paper at the minute though. Perez has gone, Rondon has gone and Kenedy (not much of a miss really) has gone and Joselu is on the verge of being sold so we're 4 players down to start with, albeit only two of those were pretty much guaranteed starters. Yes Gayle, Murphy and the Ginger Pirlo have returned but I'm expecting (more like hoping) that they will quickly come round the other side of the revolving door and head back in the opposite direction pretty sharpish. You don't want Colback back by any chance do ya?

Reet, i'm off to troll twitter and see what planes have been spotted and where today. #sheikhoverison <laugh>

Steve Bruce is being linked with the Mags job. I bet they don't do any worse under him than they did under Rafa.

They could do a lot worse, not that they’ll accept that.

You're off your tits mate !.....now where have I heard that before :emoticon-0138-think

The sooner that ****ing merry-go-round that keeps regurgitating managers is taken out of operation the better. Bruce, Allardyce, Pulis, Hughes to name but a few. They'll be spat out/chucked back in to the mix somewhere come christmas, just you watch, hopefully a million miles from our club. ****ing parasites the lot of them!

Can’t disagree to an extent but I don’t see Bruce as part of that list.

He does a genuinely decent job most places and hasn’t ever shirked jobs in unstable environments.

He very nearly had us very good.

Probably is the best of that bad bunch like to be fair. It's a monumental step down from Rafa like though innit? It's like being ditched by Rachel Riley and ending up with Jo Brand. Whoever comes in is gonna have to agree to work under the terms and conditions that Rafa wasn't prepared to which means some bottom feeder of a yes man basically....been there with Pardew and we need to move on. Either that or they move heaven and earth to bring someone decent in (or untried such as Arteta) but they will have to back down on some of the conditions that they usually like to impose in which case why not ****ing keep Rafa?

I personally think the fat ****er is hell bent on ****ing us over as much and as regularly as he possibly can. I'm fully expecting old Wobbly Eyes to be unveiled before the week is out <doh>

I don't think it is a step down from Rafa. He's (Benitez) yesterday's man. Had very little recent experience managing a club in your position. His heart wasn't really ever in it, as all the prevaricating when he signed a contract extension after his initial short term spell showed. Bruce will be hungry, knows how to scrap at the wrong end of the table, will want to prove a point to us.
