I have no idea whether he's ok away from a computer, I tend not to judge people by their actions on here. Some people just change once sat in front of a keyboard. But its hardly just us Sid. He's had run ins with many of your own through the years, general chat, Hull lads - many many others. To suggest we are the anomaly simply isn't true and is simply masking that outside of the Mackem board, he has quite a few who find him hard work. At best you could describe him as marmite. He just seems to have a chip on his shoulder the whole time which is strange for a bloke who claims to have such a great life. I don't imagine he's too concerned many folk not liking him. I certainly don't lose sleep about people not liking me on here, I'm sure most are the same.

The bloke is a walking a contradiction/hypocrite, I think that is why he gets short shrift. He gets upset and pious about how crap our board is, how the humour is juvenile, how the humour is repetitive, and looking down on folk who have nothing better to do than disrupt Sunderland threads. Then he comes on wumming with juvenile repetitive 'humour' trying to disrupt threads...

I still don't think a ban was required as he is pretty harmless and a source of amusement for many.

I've always liked and got on with Comm so I'm going to be biased. I take as I find, he just always seemed sound to me. He'd have days where he would just go overboard. We had run ins but not many. I called him a **** most days for about a year.

This place lost a little sparkle with regulation. I don't care what anyone thinks about the **** that got written (yes it would cross the line regularly), this place was better with less rules and cross board threads. Yes it was mayhem but out of the mayhem came really creative banter. Now we are hemmed into our catchment and there is no neutral ground to joust.

Anyway most people got over any distasteful comments by the next day. At worst you had a nemesis. ****, me and Rog regularly sparred and said crazy ****. Same with Comm and many others. Those threads were ****ing funny and you'd get long running themes. Like the time I took humbridge at Rog threatening to **** my mother and sister. I claimed my mother was dead. You had 5 goals taking on more water than the Titanic defending my honour <laugh> Feeling guilty I then had to reveal that I was actually just bullshitting and my mother was alive and well, and my sister non existent. That was then a theme for Rog and me to joust over for a few months. It was harmless enough. I never took anything to heart and neither did Rog (I assume). Same with me telling him he made up being in the Para's. Comm was the same. Once we blocked it all off the dynamics changed. I understand that everything was becoming more regulated so they didn't have much choice but it defo had a negative impact on the site in general. Personally though, despite those who run it down, I actually thinks its still a great site for talking about football, life etc.

Anyone who goes on the wum will, by definition, wind some people up. I don't set out to do so and so I can't say l understand the reasons of those who do. But l have no doubt that anyone unconnected with Not606 who read this thread would get the wrong idea about the people who have posted on it. So you're right not to judge people on what they post. If Smug has pissed people off then he's pissed them off; l'm certainly not defending what he's posted and he wouldn't want me to. But outside of here he has helped anyone and everyone who's asked him for it. No exceptions. He's organized tickets, travel, meet-ups; whatever. If he says he will do something he will do it and that means whatever he says. A keyboard warrior he most certainly is not...

I don't think he needs defending. I assume he is a grown man making choices on here with a full mental capacity in place. I'm sure that if you say he delivers on tickets etc, he does so. I have no opinion on that one way or the other. Mind he does like to advertise too...

As I say I just see him as a hypocrite based on his comments and actions on here. I only interact on here so that is the only barometer I have to judge him by.

I wonder what will happen first, the beatification of St Smug or Sunderland getting out of the 3rd division.

That's the Pope, as you very well know. Tsk. You try to educate people about the lofty nature of our support. Pearls before swine, pearls before swine...
