We've signed decent right back and a back up goalkeeper. The rest of them are all for the u23s. Apart from the lack of numbers, it seems fine to me.

We definitely need more in but I'm not concerned that we're not bringing in the quality that we need. Yet.

I figure that so far we've just been picking up who we wanted from the free agents market before anyone else gets them and we're working on the 'big money' deals which can take time.

Mind you as Sunderland fans we like nothing more than a big ol' kick in the bollocks so I can imagine the club stating that we're done with transfers. All the negative rumour mongering has made me paranoid.

We don’t need that much, it’s League One for **** sake.

    I’m not remotely concerned.

Deffo need more in, we're no stronger than last season currently.

I'm not worried either like, still plenty of time, but we need to add quality if we want to go up next time around.

I think we're short even though it is L1.

As a priority we need a decent number 10 to play behind Grigg and with McGeady and Maguire on the wings.

We also need 2 first choice CBs IMO.

I think Maguire could do a decent job as a No. 10. I think the biggest priority needs to be a striker who fits the system like Maja did. Followed by a centre back or two.

Oh I don’t disagree that we need some in, but it’s not like we need a full rebuild or like the teams around us have massively improved.

    No drama for me.

Nah a few quality players should do us, no need for a rebuild. Nice to be in that position for once.

I'm with Nads here. It's league 1 and the standard is terrible. I'd imagine our starting eleven players as it is would easily slide in to our rivals teams this season.

Better management from JR and a CB and striker should see us get out this league pretty comfortably.

I don't necessarily think JR's management is a major problem. A manager can only work with the players that he's got and he didn't have the players to play the game he wanted to play for much of last season. I suppose you could say he should have adapted his approach more, so he is at fault there, but I feel that it must have been frustrating for him if he was trying to mould a team to his way. Like you say though, we should have enough as it is to at least finish in a similar position to last season, so it's only a little bit of tweaking that's required.

I like the optimism of some on here who seem to think "ah it's only league one we've got enough to see us promoted"
Don't forget that we finished fifth last season as we ran out of legs for the last four matches, we've sent back all of our loanees, lost two keepers, James at full back and Catts, and by my reckoning that's 7 players gone and we've signed two.
As has been said we need recruits at CB and up front, but we need cover at fullback as well.
I don't want us signing loan players again I want committed players who belong to the club and in that respect I'd use our youngsters more.
Yes we don't need a complete rebuild like last year but I'd be happier with a few more through the door.
Were not likely to see two teams put a run together like Luton and Barnsley did last year but I'm definitely on the fence for saying our promotion is fairly straightforward.o
Time will tell but August 3rd isn't far away now.

I think we've replaced the two keepers that we've lost though. Embleton, Love and Watmore coming back into the side could be like new signings. The only loanee that made that much difference really was Morgan. For me, I think three more in would be satisfactory and after that, anyone else would be a bonus. A striker is the key in that three though. I think we'll struggle if we rely on Wyke and Grigg.

We need to sign better players than last year both permanent and loans, simple as, no one sticks in my mind as a good signing other than Big Jon, McGuire had his moments but was ineffective in a lot of games.

Like I've said before, we looked fine when we had a striker who could keep us further up the field. If we can get that player in and play that system again, I think a lot of the players who appeared to drop off in the second part of last season will look decent again. Trying to play that way with Wyke up front didn't work so players like Honeyman, Maguire, Gooch, didn't look as effective as they did earlier in the season. Centre forward is the key for me. Followed by a couple of centre backs, although I don't think they're as important if we can go back to a high pressing game.

To get players in we need to sell,as the take over looks done,we need Oviedo Catts Love Wyke off the books as a minimum, as their wages are from the prem era, and let the youngins earn their bread along with a striker like Eaves, a decent centre back and some winger with real speed.

    Roger,
Catts has already gone, Wyke was signed when we in Div 1, so not on big wages, as for the other two thought Oviedo would have been away by now problem probably getting someone to match his wages, can't see anyone paying money for Love, and isn't Watmore the speedy winger you mention.

I think we need a CB, a CM, and a striker, then some padding out.

That’s the essentials. As mentioned players have gone back from loan but some returning are ready now I’d imagine.

I believe Grigg will come good so we need a striker with opposite characteristics.

The player I really wanted to see is Marcus Maddison, I think he’s the perfect fit and he’s from Durham. Him, Marquis and a CB and I’d be utterly confident.
