Going to Ayr tomorrow(or is it today?), all very last minute so haven't studied the card that much but nothing was sticking out too much. Was thinking of doing a lazy treble on the 3 shorties 2:00 - Saint Of Katowice 3:00 - Warning Fire and 4:30 Lever Du Soleil, paying around 10/1 at the moment. Anyone fancy anything at Ayr? The only one I know I'll definitely be backing on course is old Vallarta, decent round Ayr and won the race last year off an 8lb higher mark, hopefully catching it at the right time.
Sorry for putting this here, not sure where it should go. It was announced that Sea of Class will never race again and is fighting for life after a nasty bout of colic, she is still in a veterinary hospital. hope she makes a recovery and thoughts with all those connected with her.
2:30 - Vallarta 7/1 3:30 - Oriental Lilly 14/1 4:00 - Amadeus Grey 7/2 5;30 - Cambeleza 9/2 This is what I've backed today all at Ayr. Ew lucky 15 and ew four fold
You can read in to what you want when you see a jockey running around the various racecourse's up and down the country but I see Jason Hart rides 2 up at Ayr, Spirit of Zebedee &Warning Fire, then hops down to Ripon for just the one ride, Ascot Week... The funny thing is, Jason Hart rode Ascot Week at Ayr last time out, so why couldn't they get him into one of the races up at Ayr today heaven knows...?? Anyway, I fancy his two up at Ayr... Ayr, 2:30 - Spirit of Zebedee @ 8/1 Ayr, 3:00 - Warning Fire @ evens Don't fancy his chance at Ripon... Ripon, 7:10 - Ascot Week @ 12/1 Have a good one Fabio...
I think the Dalglish runner in the first could be decent, nice pedigree, Volatile Analyst. It's about time Spirit Of Zebedee was back in the winners enclosure (2.30) and later I quite like Indian Sounds (4.00)
Looking ahead to Friday's York meeting it looks like Mabs Cross has been found a good opportunity to get back on track. The Summer Stakes is a Group 3 5F sprint and while Mabs Cross will have to shoulder extra weight because of her age and achievements this looks a lot easier than her 4th place in the Kings Stand. I had hope Mabs Cross would make the frame that day but she was pipped a nose by Archie Watson's useful 3YO Soldier's Call for the 3rd spot. Blue Point went on to land the Diamond Jubilee before being retired, while there is no shame in finishing in arrears of Bataash. Second, pipped again by a nose, in last season's Nunthorpe at York, Mabs Cross has both Blue Point and Bataash in behind her that day. Maybe York suits her better than Ascot on that evidence and on Official Ratings she is 11 lbs ahead of the next highest rated entry Shades Of Blue. Mabs Cross has run to more than 100 in her last 11 starts and that is consistency. I would rather have the class than be receiving weight and dropped from Group 1 down to Group 3 company must surely be a help. No match for the imperious Bataash in the Group 2 Temple Stakes, Mabs Cross nevertheless ran a solid race in third, not far behind old foe Alpha Delphini and she lost a shoe that day. I think Mabs Cross will be hard to beat and I feel Paddy Power have her priced correctly at 5/4. Others offer 7/4 and that seems bigger than I would actually assess her chance at. Next highest rated is Shades Of Blue on 103. She scrambled home in a French Listed race last time and prior to that had been runner up to Garrus in a tight race where Soldier's Call was third. Soldier's Call obviously ran well next time, while Garrus ran a solid race in the Coral Charge for his new trainer but Soldier's Call was conceding 10 lbs to fellow 3YO Shades Of Blue the time they clashed and was well in on the terms of that race. Archer's Dream is second favourite on Friday and is unbeaten in 3 starts for James Fanshawe but it was actually a dead-heat in her latest race where she was getting lumps of weight from the fellow dead-heater in a Listed contest at Salisbury. Archer's Dream drops to 5F from 6F for the first time and will need to be both better and sharper here. She looks a bit skinny to me at about 9/2. Mabs Cross looks tempting at 7/4 as potentially different class.
Good shout with that Dalgleish horse, won the race easy enough even though he was a bit green and hung left in the final furlong but made no difference. Didn't back it myself, was already at the course so had missed your post. My old Grandad who I was with has been following Danny Tudhope off a cliff the past few weeks so he had it plus his 7/1 winner later in the day in singles and a double, more than paid for his day out. Raging I didn't back either of them! I only backed one winner in the end, Wild Hope which was also put up on here. Another bad day at the races, literally, but always a good day out.
Stagehand to beat the jolly Stangehand to beat Power Player Two forecasts to finish the evening, Anyone see the race that got overturned? Such a violent swerve, not something a jockey could do much about yet gets switched around.
I'm not after timing honestly. Thank God they turned the 820 at Windsor around. My only bets today were: 5p e/w patent 650 Winds - Smith (14/1) 750 Winds - Arctic Sea (11/2) 820 Winds - Global Hunter (4/1) And 5p e/w doubles on the ITV7 - All at Windsor 550 - Cent Flying (15/2) Lost 620 - Good Earth (11/2) 2nd 650 - Smith (14/1) 1st 720 - Free Love (11/2) 1st 750 - Arctic Sea (11/2) 1st 820 - Global Hunter (4/1) 1st 850 - Fearless Warrior (4/1) Lost Only downside was the 50p rule 4 on Smith Shame I can't have that kind of result for the racing league @Ron. Stiil wouldn't be able to catch Reebs anyway. Times like this I wish I had the balls to bet bigger stakes.
