Mitrovic has signed an extended contract to 2024. We at Fulham were surprised at this news. Mitro could have signed for WHU without relocating but he has stated that he is really happy at Fulham. Perhaps he puts happiness ahead money
Well if he is putting money behind happiness, why did he need a new deal? His other one had plenty to run (2023). I think the reality is his agent has used Fulham's weakness and the interest from other parties to get himself and his client a nice little bonus. Well spun by Fulham though via the press. Maybe I'm just cynical...
He'll do a great job for you guys in the Championship and will be better than Rondon in a year or two. Some fans here moaning we let Rondon slip through the net but just want to slate the lad even though they scored the same amount of league goals last season (ok rondon played 5 less games - cry me a ****ing river).
Benitez trying to get Rondon to go to China,is it just me or something about that doesn't seem right.
With Mitro smashing goals in at the begining of the season and Ayoze not turning up until xmas, would have been the perfect signing at Leicester. between them your'll 'get a good 30 goals + Brenda's missed a trick there
When a contract is extended it is normal to enhance it. Like many lesser clubs we have the sword of Damocles hanging over us in the form of FFP regulations,so I would expect any increase in wages to be nominal. Whatever you may think of Mitrovic he has always appeared honest in his wishes. Whilst at Newcastle he made clear that the could not work with Rafa and that his preference was a move to Fulham. The press have speculated that WHU and Palace were interested in signing Mitrovic and, as both of those clubs are about 15 miles from Fulham no relocation would be required. as premier clubs they could have offered more attractive terms than we could. With regard to him doing a great job in the championship,it depends who he is matched up with perhaps we could do worse than go for Dwight Gayle!
I don't mind Mitro and he seems happy where he is. But this is solely about money in my eyes. There was no need to extend a contract that ran until 2023 for any other reason. He knew of interest from PL clubs and his agent decided to squeeze Fulham is how I see it. Its normal practice. The point is no new contract was needed unless he had some clause they wanted removed. Its normal for the club to present this as a real sign of commitment. The reality is if they hadn't extended his contract and increased his pay he'd have been off. Loyalty and sentiment is dead as far as football goes. Its all about the money.
I'd be bang up for you taking Dwight Gayle, or at least I would have been but that basically leaves us Muto..... This takeover better happen
