I know it's short notice but I've got 2 grandstand e-tickets for Sandown that are no longer any use. If who's interested I can e.mail them over
My regular readers, God bless them and save them, may recall that on last Saturday’s thread I had a moan about there being 50 races, that day, on the level in the Isle. Well thankfully that isn’t the case tomorrow. Tomorrow it’s 49! Forty-bally-nine! The positive is that we are heading in the right direction but, people, that is still too many by a good 20 heats. Saturation overload or what?!?
Shame I've already got mine, 20 guys on a stag do so could be messy, all tips welcome guys, apart from the obvious, telling him not to do it
A major plunge on Mojito in Sandown's 2-25 tomorrow. 637 days off, with Dettori up. As low as 5-1 in places.
Had the chance of a free ticket tomorrow in the Coral hospitality section but unable to go due to family day out. Consequently a no betting day for me tomorrow also. I m waving the no bet banner sadly!!!
Looking like it could be another Frankie headline day, 3 strong fancies and a couple that he may get lucky with!!!
I’m on a Frankie five timer. The 1.50, 2.25, 3.00, 3.35 & 4.45. I’ve probably picked the wrong ones but worth a couple of quid whilst sat on the beach with a couple of beers. Have a good weekend fellas
How the hell can ATR, or now the Sky Sports Racing channel have no 'local' racing on it's channel despite racing being on at 9 venues in England & Ireland combined...!!?? Racing is on from Nantes, which do not interest me in the slightest... I know that certain courses are affiliated to certain sporting channels but that is crazy. Racing UK has them all and to be honest they will not be able to give any insight into any of the races as they will just go from one to the other back to back...!! I like ITV racing, and that is what I'll be watching but really, it's pathetic... Rant over, time to study a card or three...
Morning 2.10 Naas-Cool Vixen @ 4-1 [Ladbrokes] Stable are flying thanks to similar debut 2 year olds like her
Of most interest to me in the 1:50 at Sandown is GARRUS, just taken over by Charlie Hills from the retiring Jeremy Noseda. He does not have the best of the draw but there are only ten runners and weight-for-age starts to work for the three year olds at this time of the year. What is a concern is that three of his four wins have been in single-figure fields. Muthmir was a valiant second in this last year but he is running the same race every time now so the three year olds should improve past him. I have to conclude that Sergei Prokofiev is such a short price because of his home address, as he won an egg-and-spoon race first time out and has been well beaten twice since. Mojito won what is now the second race (2:25) two years ago but has not run since letting me down badly at the end of 2017, so no play today – if he has been injured since then, does he want fast ground on his comeback? In the Sandown 3:00, the first thing I did was look for a Gosden filly as he has a good record in the race. Muchly fits the bill but she was not the stable first choice last time and was well beaten in this grade. Perhaps the drop back to the stiff mile today is the right call. Encapsulation is a very interesting contender, transferring from Ireland to Andrew Balding, but all her three races have been on easy ground. Beyond Reason won a Group 3 race as a juvenile but was totally outgunned in two Group 1s, so I would want to see how fit she looked before backing her on debut. In the lucky last, Light Up Our Stars (easy winner last time) and Madeeh both make their handicap bows and I never back such horses. Crowley reject Amjaady won last time from the front and could try for a repeat under James Doyle; however, I think this is between the top and bottom weights. Dreamweaver easily won an ordinary Goodwood handicap last time and is only raised 3lb for two lengths whilst PRODUCTION is raised 5lb for easily winning a slightly better Redcar race and can give Ed Walker’s charge a stone and a beating: the old adage “topweights in three year old handicaps”. Over at Haydock, I will only be watching my Almanac horse from last year First Eleven given the odds in the Old Newton Cup. In the first race, was Sir Ron Priestley not in Harry Potter? When did he get knighted? With Crowley on duty at Sandown, Dane O’Neill gets to pick up the spares in the North West and it is hard to look beyond ENBIHAAR in the Lancashire Oaks. I think that she can reverse the latest form with Dramatic Queen over this shorter trip and before that she beat Klassique. My expectation is that Nyaleti will try to make the running (hopefully will not be allowed to steal the race), so the main danger to the favourite may be her stablemate Highgarden, who will surely come on for her strange warm up race at Chelmsford. Amongst last week’s overload of racing, I could only find one bet and it turned out to be a non-runner! This week, EQUIANO SPRINGS is entered in the Haydock 5:00: still on the same reasonable mark for his two length win last time with most of this field out of form. He has most to fear from Last Page, which won in April but has not been seen since, and Gabrial The Devil (second in the race Equiano Springs missed!) if the ground is not too quick for him.
Going to have a little play on four that I think could place Caspian Prince 1.50 Sandown Aquarium 3.15 Haydock Solar Heights 2.50 Chelmsford Vormir 2.10 Naas As well as the comp choices and a Gaz fav bet. Good luck to all
Sandown 2.25 - Zhui Feng 25/1 e/w. Crowley riding for his sister-in-law, usually a good bet. Good luck all.
And another thing... How kind of Sky to show the Cricket World Cup final 'should' England make it... It should be shown regardless of who makes the final you bunch of idiots...!! Rant II over...
I've had an each-way on Regal Reality. He has been drifting this morning and to some extent it's not a surprise because he's a new horse compared to most of the others in the field. Unexposed at the trip and with questions about some of the others I reckon 8/1 is bigger than he should be and he has a good chance of at least being in the 1-2-3 today. Telecaster seems popular today but the trainer has come here after originally saying that the best thing for the horse long-term was to have a break and go for a French Group 2 in August as a relaunch. We will see if Hughie has dropped a clanger by changing tack again. Zabeel Prince seems friendless today. The trainer seemed adamant that 10F was his trip now but he was posted missing in the Prince Of Wales. With Lord Glitters winning the Queen Anne at big odds you would conclude that Zabeel Prince would have gone close if returned to the mile trip. Punters seem to be taking the view that Varian is sending Zabeel Prince on a fool's errand at 10F today. I'll trust Stoute to wring further improvement from Regal Reality and the unexposed Intello colt seems the value with not a lot to find with Mustashry and Zabeel Prince in my view. 3.35 Sandown Regal Reality 8/1 EW
Clearly they were in the know about that Kurious in the Sandown opener – backed from 12/1 down to 13/2 at the off on Bet365. What a shame that I had already put my bet on the runner-up...
2.40 Haydock Enbihaar is a filly with plenty of physical scope and I thought at 5/2 she was better value than Klassique. In the 3.15 I went with the Gosden horse First Eleven because he seems a touch of class and could be up to conceding weight all round. I've doubled them up for something to watch. 2.40 Enbihaar 5/2 3.15 First Eleven 3/1 Win double.
