Was wondering what the situation was with Simon Power, given Idah was sorted out today.
    Wondering no more!

Looks like this is another one that has been arranged fairly early, given he's gone to the Netherlands ahead of Ross County's game with Groningen tomorrow, and they've already got photos on their website of him in training kit with a number.

    Some quotes from their end:

On the signing Stuart Kettlewell said “We are delighted to get Simon in. He is a young player that we see as having great potential and can play a great part in what we are trying to achieve at the club. Coming from Norwich City, he will have an excellent pedigree and is a player I am sure the fans will take too instantly.”

“We also want to take the opportunity to thank Norwich City for allowing Simon to come here. Its really encouraging that clubs such as Norwich see value in sending young players up to us. With the importance of this season for us all, to be able to get good players like Simon in the door just helps us add a bit more strength to what we feel is becoming a really strong squad here at Ross County.”

I'd think that's another sensible loan. The SPL is clearly a league we're targeting for our youth, both as a source of players and as a loan destination. I think one of the great advantages of the league is players can test themselves against some pretty strong sides (Celtic), but there's also some real dross in that league. The wide range of opposition affords opportunities to start, and also to really catch the eye against big clubs. We've seen Maddison, Bloomfield, Morris and Matthews all loaned to SPL teams as well, with varying results.

Ross County don't appear to be short of wide players, so he's not going to walk straight into the first team you'd imagine.

Phil Jagielka to Sheffield United is an interesting one. Obviously a big favourite from the past, but he's 36, only played 7 times last season, and would have to learn a new system at Sheffield United. Experienced cover makes sense, but can't imagine he'd make the first XI now?

Reminds me of Yobo joining Norwich, and that was hardly a success.

Surely with João Felix’s move to Athletico now confirmed, Krovinovic will be better placed to stay at Benfica and fight for his position now?

I love google translations. "The central defender comes from KV Oostende and did not cost the 'Canaries' pieces of people." <laugh>

:emoticon-0138-think "Let's see now, that will be two ears and a liver."

Agree, Suffolk. This one seems odd to me if there is not an option to buy. He looks like a capable back-up to be sure, but don't Schalke need a back-up keeper, too? He must be coming with thoughts of earning the #1 spot. What if he does that, then goes back to Schalke or somewhere else after the season? In that case, we've risked pissing off Krul. Tim won't be afraid of competition but if an interloper takes his place for a season then leaves, that would be tough for anybody to accept.

I'd think SW and DF would be sensitive to such possibilities if they occurred. It's a big move for Fahrmann and he may want to see how it goes before committing further. Leitner and Trybull came on loan under similar conditions and then signed on after their loans. Rhodes also came on loan without an option to buy and may yet sign on if a fee can be agreed. Players have a say in their own careers and that's as it should be.

    This seemed strange to me.

Krul wasn't perfect, and he did make massive errors. But he seemed like the drive. To the young back 4, and in the changing room, on the training pitch.

I have had times where I've been really annoyed with Krul. Over all, He plays one of the biggest rolls. You can see he is talking the young, inexperienced players through games. He'd probably make less mistakes if he had a back 4 that were experienced and knew what they were doing.

Last season was all about togetherness. The players, the fans, the fan groups, the directors. It was all about us being as one. To bring in a keeper to start ahead of Krul. I don't see how that fits. Krul is such a big part of the "togetherness".

For those reasons, I think Krul has the shirt and will probably be in the line-up at Anfield. It will take some time for
Fahrmann to adjust both on and off the pitch. He'll need a couple of cup games to get sorted as he does so. Hopefully the competition will help Krul raise his game.

    Great posts FML and Rick.
Yes, Krul was very suspect on occasions, especially early in the season and from my seat just behind the River End goal, you could see and occasionally hear his interaction with his defenders.
This is the only part of our recent recruitment that makes me feel slightly uneasy and other than Cup games, I hope that we don't see him selected ahead of Krul unit October.

1 word for the thinking behind bringing in Farmermann .
    MCGOVERN

McLovin is our back up keeper in case of suspenjury or loss of form.

The transfer of Ralf Fährmann to Norwich City will be official tomorrow, then signed. This is a one-year loan. Schalke 04 will collect around three million euros in loan fees and will not take on a single penny in salary. #s04

3 Million Euro for a 12 month loan + all wages paid by NCFC seems pretty high to me (for a foreign goalie) - hope he is worth it

    Exactly what I thought, Thai.
Obviously I can't verify the German source but am assuming there's some truth in it.

If true, I would also hope that there is the option for a permanent signing if both parties are satisfied with each other at a vastly reduced transfer fee.

A small addition: the contract with Norwich City does not include a purchase option,
as has been reported before. #s04

Not quite sure what's 'to think about' here?
Well rewarded, wanted by the gaffer, warm climate, a clean break with UK football
(Reading are under some sort of transfer embargo so couldn't sign him even if they wanted him).
    Just say yes, Nelson!

According to Sdna.Gr, AEK are closing in on signing Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira.
Yesterday, we covered claims from Greece that AEK are interested in signing the 27 year old, and today it’s reported the Greek club have offered Oliveira a three-year contract, which will see him earn €1m a season.

It’s claimed Oliveira’s agent is keen on this offer, but the Norwich City player wants to think things over before making a decision on his future.

Sdna also report new AEK manager Miguel Cardoso wants to work with his compatriot next season and has told the Portugal international he wants him in this team.

The former Benfica player spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading, where he scored three goals in 10 appearances.
His Norwich City contract will expire at the end of June 2020 and the Premier League side may <laugh> be looking to offload him this summer.
