For them - they have a season to look for a new player/develop someone from youth while having someone that gives a **** play for them and is being paid to do so by another club. For us - he will have a year to get ready to leave home for the first time and is playing first team football in the meantime.
We did something similar over 20 years ago when we sold Alan Smith to the Gooners and kept him on loan for the season. As I seem to recall it didn't do us much good as we were relegated to the 2nd division that season still.
Manchester City are not prepared to meet Leicester's current asking price for defender Harry Maguire, leaving rivals Manchester United in the clear to wrap up a deal for the 26-year-old England international. (90Min) Where's the bit that says "We still don't have to sell him!"
Leicester will turn their attention to signing Burnley defender James Tarkowski if Harry Maguire, 26, leaves for Manchester United. Wolves have also been interested in 26-year-old Tarkowski. (Birmingham Mail)
I dont rate Tarkowski. I dont want Dunk either If Maguire goes I would rather give Soyuncu and Benkovic the chance to replace him and if that doesnt work get someone in Jan
Completely agree. Tarkowski is incredibly well managed and drilled rather than anything else. Dunk seems a good defender but nothing special. Yes some centre backs are clearly better than others but generally speaking they look good or bad based on how well they’re coached. Look at when Lovren first moved to Liverpool for example. It worries me that Benkovic stopped starting for Celtic but Soyuncu I think could replace him. My only worry there is that either him or Evans appear the tallest... but maybe that’s where Benkovic comes in.
Benkovic got an ankle injury and struggled to get fit afterwards Rodgers knows all about how to use Benkovic
2 new signings today Ali Reghba joins from Bohemian and George Hirst joins for OH Leuven Both will be in the under 23’s Sheffield Wednesday wont be happy with Hirst as we tried to sign him from there and we couldnt agree compensation. OH Leuven signed him instead and he has now moved to us meaning no compensation will be paid
Reportedly on his way...although the LM aren't the most credible source but I'm hoping they are correct on this occasion. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...icester-3060815.amp?__twitter_impression=true
Sky Sports are reporting his medical is tomorrow https://www.skysports.com/football/...for-leicester-medical-ahead-of-permanent-move
The Hirst thing doesn’t sit well with me. I’m not bothered about Wednesday as they have done enough dodgy dealings themselves and brought in on themselves with how they treated him. The loophole as a whole though is concerning as it could set a precident to other clubs ripping off smaller clubs than Wednesday who might need the funds to survive
I dont like it but where not the first club to do it and wont be the last. Watford being the prime example
I know Watford swapped players between was it Udinese and Girona or some Spanish team? Man City have sister clubs as well. It’s the loophole to avoid compo for the young player that’s not good, I can’t remember if the others did that, not that that means they didn’t. It’s rich clubs getting richer again
