Milo Lambers@milolambers: Charlie Gilmour en Tim Odusina van Norwich en Bradley Vliet (Cambuur Leeuwarden) trainen mee met Telstar. #telstar Apparently Charlie Gilmour (who we haven't even announced yet?) and Tim Odusina are training with Telstar, a second division Dutch side. That's from their equivalent of an EDP journo, so presumably reliable. Seems very logical and in keeping with past NCFC loans, so imagine that this is genuine.
Very strange that we haven't announced the signing yet, but perhaps that's because he's not available for publicity. Very pleased if this is true as I suspect Gilmour will be the eventual replacement for Tettey at DM.
I think there's a degree of "stage managing" our summer transfer work, and the new contracts signed. In addition to Gilmour, it seems fairly likely Vrancic and Buendia have already signed new contracts. But rather than announce them all in one go, it's being spread out so nothing is buried, and it reduces the impression that we aren't doing anything. We probably could have announced 8-10 contracts and a new signing a few weeks ago, but then had nothing to report for 6 weeks, which breeds worry.
You're probably right DH, SW does seem to be quite canny about managing our expectations. So far we've signed seven players, of which only Drmic and Roberts will need to be integrated in pre-season. Fahrmann and a new RB may also add to that soon, but we should have a squad very ready for the opener at Anfield. Last year we had to integrate 7 new senior players after losing Maddison, Hoolahan, Gunn and Murphy as well as other senior players. This year of the 7 players leaving, only Pinto had a few games at the start of the season.
Meanwhile, Oliveira's departure is edging closer: http://sportwitness.co.uk/club-closing-norwich-city-player-offered-3-year-contract-agent-keen/
The (probably mangled) translation of this is interesting: https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nieuws...voor-de-verkoop-van-rocky-bushiri-aan-norwich Norwich took advantage of an administrative error made by the Belgian clubs, which meant Bushiri was available at way below market price. It sounds like all we've paid is the equivalent to a tribunal fee. Even if he doesn't make it through to the first team, there's undoubtedly profit to be made there.
Fun stat from Whoscored... Ralf Fährmann: Only Oliver Baumann (10) has committed more errors leading to an opposition goal than Fährmann (7) since the start of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season. Can't find an equivalent stat for last season (I don't think 3-4 would be an unreasonable guess for Krul), but Krul has made 15 "Errors leading to goals" in 157 PL appearances. Realistically that probably means Fahrmann has a simlar error rate to Krul, but hopefully is better in other areas!
Palace to bid £10m for Max Aarons https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/max-aarons-crystal-palace-bid-10-million Hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha Not A Chance
Really pleased Idah gets a first team contract, and to train with the first team. Certainly deserved and hopefully he can make an impact. Am I reading too much into it, or is one of the changes under Webber the way in which being part of the first team squad is much more of an "official achievement" within the club? Going back a few years, I feel like we'd usually find 5-8 youngsters classed as "first team squad members" who got kit numbers but were never remotely near the squad. People like Adel Gafaiti spring to mind in that category. Now, it feels much more like being given a first team squad number is a bigger thing. You look at our announced squad numbers and it feels like only Oxborough is on the fringes. It's impressive that all the youth players have mentioned a greater connection to the senior team, and yet the club have managed to make it so stepping up is a big deal. On another note, just adds that little bit of pressure to Wednesday over Rhodes. Rhodes would now be a 5th striker, and is much less positionally flexible than Pukki, Drmic and Idah. No way we're paying significant money for him. We can assess Idah over the 5 weeks until the transfer deadline, and if needs be do some late work in the transfer market to bring Rhodes in cheap and loan Idah out - if it seems necessary.
Interesting that along with the four year contract, Idah's promotion to the first team squad is 'permanent': "The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has committed to a new four-year contract, set to keep him at the Canaries until the summer of 2023. Idah has also been given the squad number 35 for next season, completing his transition from City's Under-18 and Under-23 set-up into the first-team squad ahead of City's top-flight return for the 2019-2020 campaign." "I'm delighted to sign a new deal here," said Idah, who joined City's academy two years ago. "The moment they offered me a new contract, I knew straight away that I wanted to sign it. I've loved every minute here so I'm delighted. My form last season was great and I've worked very hard to get myself to where I am now...After Toulon, I got given the news that I would be training with the first-team. I was told it would be for the first few days but the other day, I was told it would be permanently." https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/adam-idah-first-team-new-contract-1-6142107
I was really excited to read this DH and the way the club is feeding us little snippets each day is superb. Idah naturally is delighted at the news!!! The improvement in our scouting system is unrecognisable, as several much bigger clubs were watching him before he came to NR1. Edit - Totally agree re JR!!!! PS - I remember saying a few weeks ago when Morris went on loan that DF must be considering Idah as being part of the first team squad!!
Fahrmann being very good friends with assistant Christopher John could go either way. Could be good for the morale or If Krul is dropped all season it could be seen as favouritism for his mate
