Hang on a minute. Rafa Benitez criticises the Newcastle board for their lack of ambition... ...and then he takes a job in China?!!
United in for Maguire for £70m - that really is staggering. He is a good CB but that is silly. I think 6th spot could be up for grabs this year you know
Crystal Palace absolutely furious with Arsenal for only tabling £40M opening bid for Zaha. Welcome to 2019 football fans! (saying that, when I saw the next article 'Maguire for £70M', I started to feel their annoyance!)
I think a number of teams would be interested and willing to pay well over £40m for Zaha if he hadn't failed at United previously. I think that is in the back of people's mind.
Its a opening bid. Don't get annoyed, just say 'nah bro, you about half way there......' Arsenal were never going to drop 80 on the first.
Newcastle have accepted Leicester's £30m bid for Perez - out of the blue that one! Lot of money but he is good
Leicester will have to accept they're going to have to overpay for players, as everyone will know the incoming money for Maguire
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/arti...kname=article_weirdfootballterms_contentcard7 Here's a light hearted piece about the world-wide football lexicon. Apparently Dundee United means idiot in Nigeria....read the article to find out why.
Add in the fact that the Lionesses reached the semifinals of the World Cup, and GB Women have qualified for the Olympics, and hundreds of thousands of girls have been motivated to play football, I’d say Women’s football is healthier than it’s ever been.
One club? There are many clubs that have gone under recently or suffered from financial difficulties. Sunderland, Notts County, Watford, Gosport Borough, Yeovil, etc etc. All the while teams like Man £ity and Chelsea are signing international players left, right and centre on (relatively) huge contracts. I just thought as it was a Southampton team, you might actually care. Yes women's football might be healthy for a small clique of clubs, but for the rest... The whole thing is built on foundations of sand.
Yep, this is blindingly obvious. I am not really interested in women's football and despite watching a small amount of England in the world cup this year, I don't think I will develop any real interest. However, it is growing enormously (11m peak viewing audience of the semi final) and the US have shown it can be immensely popular. I hope it continues to grow as it would be good for young girls to have the opportunity to play for clubs if that is what they enjoy.
