Come on England Women for tonight. Have to say I think Phil Neville is flourishing in this job not only as a professional but also as a human. From what I have read he has really understood that this is not only very different from managing in the men’s game but also that he has taken on board his responsibility to the women’s football as a whole. Good man.
Yep, I've been really impressed with Phil. Also, the England women's team is playing some good stuff. USA are clear favourites tonight, but we have a chance to cause an upset.
The only crap thing is that the kick off is early/mid afternoon in the US and my mates, those who aren’t on holiday for 4th of July, are all at work and won’t be watching. I was looking forward to an orgy of triumphant texting and banter. They take women’s football very seriously over there, and the set up, with college scholarships etc, is very favourable to developing the women’s game. Hope Solo, the ex US keeper, was interviewed in the Times today, saying that the US should win, but that England are the only team that they might fear rather than respect, and that in a tactical game Neville could be the difference.
Sad to hear Bardsley, injured and not playing tonight - have a soft spot for her for obvious reasons!
The women's game in the USA is very well developed and they're all millionaires. We will do well to beat them, especially if our keeper is injured.
Have you seen their record? If any team has earned the right to be arrogant, they have 4x Olympic Champions, 3x World Cup Winners, never lower than third in the World Cup. Loads of resources but also a lot of talent. We look a bit nervy at the moment. Calm it down.

2-1 Yanks, very good goal. Enjoying this, some good skills, a bit of farce, a real intent to attack, some very ambitious passing some of which is successful, very little of the poncing about we have become used to. Could be a very high scoring game, neither team looks great defensively.
