Smith was ok Expecting to get a lot more pace up front ,but not expecting experience Hopefully we will use funds from Luongo Freeman sales to buy the best of league 1 and pay the salary for an Arsenal loaner striker for a year
See on ssn breaking news Freeman to sign for blades in next 24hrs 3mill + add ons, guessing again at price
Sky saying 3m plus add ons for Freeman. If correct then I wasnt too far away with 3.5. Makes Luongo worth about 800k in comparison.
Looks as though Freeman has gone...the price seems to be top end 5million with the add ons I would suspect (games played, them staying up). I think it is the only way forward..sorry
It seems that we are getting business done early, be it both in and outs. I think this is good as perhaps we can have a pre season with most of the team sorted out.
This is moneyball in action......good piece of business with a decent profit.....cheers Luke and good luck.
I always find myself defending Smith for some reason, but I have to say that he chipped in with his fair share of goals. Just my opinion, but do not agree with this at all. He did a job for us. Why anyone feels the need to knock him I just do not understand. We know his limitations, but why focus on those?
Yeah decent profit at the end of the day. Will be a miss for us for sure, but hopefully Eze and co can fill the void.
Freeman will be really missed. It's a shame he's gone to a team where one of the add-ons are them staying up as this won't happen. Eze turns up to about 1 in 3 games so not hopefull of him filling the void. Fingers crossed for some exciting signings.
I am not sure what the correct communicaton strategy is for us on transfers. Let's positively assume that the Freeman deal with "add-ons" is almost 6 mill, then if communicated, it gives the message that we do not sell for "peanuts" (the value of peanuts here is very relative). This could mean we can hold out and demand more in future negotiations, which should be good. On on the other hand, when we wish to buy lower league players, then they know we have received some cash in the bank and will want to get a larger slice. So it is a two way sword. As we seem to be net buying more low league players than selling our "top asset" players, then perhaps this secrecy is positive. "We are poor old skint QPR and we really cannot offer any more than this small change".
It certainly looks like it. If he could not get a game in "that Rotherham team" then he must be limited which may be concerning. On the other hand, he may be a "surprise" like Clint Hill or Hall. Warburton certainly seems to know him. So, let's wait and see what develops.
