Now don't get me Wrong neither are favourite bands of mine but this thread stemmed from my oldest starting Oasis were better than Blur. The youth of today are quite into the 90's indie scene and he was watching some old Glastonbury highlights when he came out with this. I remember it being topical back in the day.

To me Oasis had a moment and it was a time and place thing, the first two albums were like a soundtrack to my life in my early 20's but Blur are by far the better band and their music and their creativity far outweighs Oasis.

So for those who are interested, discuss.

    Done a poll and everything.

They smashed it at that time, for two reasons.

    1. They could really play, due to years of hard slog practice, and so were brilliant live.
    2. They had an attitude that summed up that time, they were Council estate lads who didn’t give a ****, but they had the live act and tunes to match the attitude.

Blur were just beauts. Albarn is a knobhead imo.

Good argument, I don't think there's much doubt that Oasis win the "at the time" award. Like I said those 2 albums were great but looking back now I think Blur are overall the best band.
For example do a best off and Oasis have those 2 albums and then **** all. Blur game some great songs to go to. I agree on Albarn btw.

Oasis, soundtrack to the mid 90s, excellent live. Never liked Blur. That song about living in a house in the kantry is teeth grindingly ****.

Each to their own my friend. I prefer OCS to Oasis and James have a wonderful back catalogue.

Karaoke you say. Well that just tells me that your opinion is best ignored.

Albarn didn't hit his creative peak until the Gorrilaz. If you want karaoke then Blur is the place to look.

    Country house ffs.

@luvgonzo there was a really good interview with Noel by Dermot Gallagher on last week that was an entire show about the Oasis years, can’t remember which channel but you’d find it on catch up I’m sure <ok>

The documentary that did based on the first two albums was good, even they realise it went to **** after that.
