Best twitter comment I've seen about Glastonbury so far "I don't think there's a locksmith in Britain who could find what key Liam Gallagher was singing in"
I have a book at home in which I used to invite friends to put little comments and bits in. It went on for some years until it was filled up. On one of the pages is a little drawing done by a buddy I haven't seen in 20 years, and it's of a little man who has what appears to be a long kinked stick in his hand. Underneath the drawing is one word - Charlie. It was only years later after the book was full up that I saw the picture again and realised it wasn't a stick, but a handle.
Non music related, but I have a book at home from our wedding day... about 1 in 3 pages has a message written by my then 8 year old nephew and 9 year old brother in law. Several weeks after our wedding we read the messages from our Special book. The little shysters has left several messages along the lines of “Saints are rubbish” and “Man Utd are great.” That was in July 2000. January 2019, that brother in law got married himself and left a special guest book out for messages..... #neverforget The nephew’s day is yet to come.
Funny to think that it only ever got to number 42 in the UK singles chart in 1985, yet everyone knows it and the words.
There's a few around like that, I suspect being used for an advert or featured in tv/film may result in something gaining such popularity years later. I was surprised to note that 'Don't Stop Believin' by Journey never made the uk charts at all when released in 1981. It managed to do so only after re-release in 2006 or so.
The Cure are playing here in my home town of Novi Sad this week at the Exit festival - worth watching?
Rory Walking on Hot Coals: and doing it LIVE on The Old Grey Whistle Test [be prepared for the abrupt cut-off] Rory is one of very few I'd be prepared to say who improves on a studio version. 'Cause basically, he's so f*****g brilliant.
