FIA with no idea in which order to hand out penalties? Surely it's just the order in which they were acquired, meaning Hamilton 5th.
Indeed. They’re buggering about. Still, has the makings of a cracking race, as long as Max and Charles don’t take one another out at the first corner.
My question is this. 1 guy changes a part and gets 5 place penalty. 1 guy blocks another and dives off track unsighted and gets a 3 place penalty. Surely this shows f1 has a big problem? My thoughts on it. A) Lewis got a reasonable punishment. No issue with it. b) we put more store in counting beans than we do in safety. F1 is not racing. It's accounting 101. Count this count that, save here, save there. That said this really simple track might just give us an actual race. I bet the stewards are figuring out how to prevent it as we speak. Seriously though you could have a better set up. Top 2 could do anything first corner. Two mercs to fight. Vettel to charge through field **** up and then repeat.
Hope the top two fight out it out all race but I have a feeling Lewis will want a piece of Verstappen, whether he succeeds we have to wait and see. Love the thought of a Vettel charge followed by a mistake but he has no pressure tomorrow so reckon he will do OK. Bottas will do all he can to stay ahead of Lewis, he needs to beat Lewis this race to have chance. If he leads Lewis but can't take Verstappen I reckon they will let Lewis past to have a go.
Should be 5th, all this gap nonsense and shuffling drivers around is new to me in over 10+ years of watching.
They do it purely to annoy you, they gambled in 2016 introducing this rule after all the PU silly buggers, but it was all for you.
I can highly recommend the Autocourse annuals to fill you in in the previous 60 years that you have missed. You get to read about drivers winning a race whilst taking a penalty in the pitlane after the finish line. It's great.
What's the odds on the top 2 wiping each other out and a boring Mercedes 1-2 occurring? Slim, I'm hoping slim. Ferrari look to he the class of the field this weekend, but I can't help but feel starting on the softs is a bad idea which could bring Max and the Mercs into it.
Can't see that slogan being a winner for Liberty Media's marketing department. You need to try harder.
Hopefully not, can you imagine the whinging about that!? Genuinely hoping for a good race today. Grid is a bit mixed up, no real team showing an advantage over the weekend, drivers making errors. So......Hamilton off the grid like a lightning bolt and leads by turn 3. We all settle down for another Sunday afternoon snooze fest?
I'm genuinely excited about this race, which is probably the first time since about 20 seconds into the first race in Australia. Max needs his cool head on today, or it could all unravel early on?
From a grid perspective, this is what we need. I really am hoping Le Clerc brings this one home. I want Bottas to revive his Mojo and keep Lewis behind him. I want Vettel to come up behind Lewis, panic because he now has to show he can do it, screws up seeing Lewis lose time in the process and Lando to squeeze through is all the mayhem. On the last lap, Bottas gets a puncture and we have a podium of le Clerc, Mad Max, Lando. That would be a talking point.
