I only ever attended one festival, Bickershaw, May 1972. Pissed down but there was some good music. New Riders, Grateful Dead and Country Joe were brilliant. Doctor John was interesting, Donovan wasn't Dylan and The Kinks were absolutely ****ing awful. Actually, that gives them too much credit, they were worse than that.

This is from the spoof news site News Thump, which I though was amusing and in many cases very true................

Study finds people only go to Glastonbury to tell people they went to Glastonbury

Research has confirmed those who attend Glastonbury Festival do so just to brag about it.

Revellers claim to go to the iconic festival for the music, counterculture attitudes and idyllic setting.

However, new research has shown that, in fact, their sole reason is knowing they’ll be able to tell anyone who’ll listen that they had a good time.

Professor Simon Williams, who conducted the study, explained: “It’s nonsense to think that spending a weekend getting rained on, wading through mud and taking a dump in something that smells like Satan’s arse crack is fun for anyone.

“The only reason people go to Glastonbury and endure such misery is to fake that they’re having a good time

dont you also have to be middle class or upper class , professional or a child of one.
I read a quote a few years back from some music star may have been one of the Gallagher along the lines of " anywhere that caters for the likes of Emma thompson slumming it in an air conditioned yurt isn't the place for me"

I've been rebelling against my aristocratic background for most of my life, but am immensely proud to admit I've never been to Glastonbury.:emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0105-wink:

First musician ever to make a political point through music...shocking.
Good job none of the people we all listened to growing up did the same

Yeah, how dare he say something political in his lyrics!

No musicians have ever done that! Disgusting.

Best festival I ever attended was the Koeien Kont somewhere in Holland in 97 or 98.

It was melting. Grabbist. Pure lucky stone, I’m telling you!

Went for a week, stayed for dessert if you know what I mean?

    Great bands.

    Great times.

Great mammeries. (Thanks for them, Koeien Kont).

Can’t remember all the acts but definitely saw Storky and the Monkfish, The Final Isthmus, Realigning With Georgia, Auntie Brenda’s Tempting Muff, Groping Davy Scroat (after he’d broken up with the Hands Off Lucy combo obvs).

    Stinkin’ Dave Thompson.

    Touching Cloth.

    The Suppurating Pustules.

    Monkey and The Business.

    Happy Daze.

Sometimes I just have to close my eyes and it’s like I’m back there.
