Archie Mair has officially joined City, according to Aberdeen press release. Replacement for Mcracken I would assume. Reports also say we must substantially increase our offer for Fitz.
Our academy reporting it too: There's also news that a contract extension for Vrancic, Google translate reckons an extension to 2020 or 2021. Given he already has a contract until 2020, presumably it means extending to 2021. https://sportsport.ba/fudbal/vrancic-u-narednim-danima-potpisuje-ugovor/323812
GK rumour, Eduoard Mendy of Stade de Reims. https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Transferts-edouard-mendy-reims-vers-l-angleterre/1033658 According to transfermarkt he's 27, played the whole ligue 1 season last year, keeping 15 clean sheets. Contracted until 2022 so presumably not all that cheap.
Mair played 180 mins last season, one game for Aberdeen reserves and one for their U20s. He's nowhere near the first team setup. I imagine it's like you've said and he plays for the U23s this season, whilst Oxborough gets a loan. If McCracken (who I'd never heard of until a few weeks ago) renews, he can also go out on loan, or if he leaves our U23s still have a goalkeeper. At a senior level, that still leaves us with Krul and McGovern. McGovern didn't appear to threaten Krul at all last season, it's not like he's going to do so this season. The club have spoken of wanting two good options in every position - I'd doubt McGovern qualifies. Most clubs have three goalkeepers, and the trend is now for the third to be an aging player doing his coaching badges - I think that's McGovern's role now. So another GK still makes sense, but whether Mendy fits the bill or not I don't know. Given his contract situation and the other clubs rumoured to be interested, I can't see it. Second choice GK is probably another position where we can afford to save money.
Mendy, according to TransferMkt, is valued at 8 mil (£ not ₣). Plus the three years on his contract. Sounds like a rubbish rumor. Very good player, though.
Although Krul was a bit dodgy at the start he turned into a solid reliable keeper. When you play such a high press attacking game you are going to let in a few goals. We need a settled team and Tim was also a very vocal leader with the kids at the back. If he gets suspenjured then we may struggle with McGovern as back up so strengthening would be wise.
Or not https://readnorwich.com/2019/06/25/is-tim-krul-good-enough-for-the-premier-league-next-season/
Very happy with the Drmic signing, but I assume he will play second fiddle to Pukki. He’s got obvious pedigree, but it’s like a different game in England so he’ll have to work incredibly hard to get into the starting line up I’d guess. Nice problem for us to have, knowing we’ve signed an international striker who scores goals on the continent, but likely to be on the bench...
Pukki will certainly have the role to lose, but it depends on how quickly Drmic picks up the game here. Buendia managed that in spite of missing much of the pre-season. Like Pukki, Josip is also able to play on either flank, so we could have two strikers playing in a one striker system at times.Even in the PL, we're going to carry a big threat up front with fluid movement and goalscorers in all four positions. SoccerSouls seems to think Drmic could also fit in as a number 10: https://soccersouls.com/how-norwich...ith-their-latest-signing-from-the-bundesliga/ If true, that line-up could carry real menace up front.
Ozzy? Christ, I'd had more to drink than I thought, no idea where that name came from - I meant Turnbull
Another interview with Drmic after signing with us: https://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball...-einige-haben-mich-ausgelacht-id15390037.html Talks about needing to improve his English, being aware that his injury history means he needs to pay special attention to pre-season, and being on "active holiday" in Croatia where he's doing fitness work each morning. Sounds like he's saying the right things.
Man U have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign their Right Back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a deal worth £50m, with the player set to travel for a medical imminently before going on holiday. Hopefully this means they will lose interest in Max Aarons. Man U have offered Wan-Bissaka a long term contract of £80K per week.
Not quite the same pull though, thankfully. Manchester United are hard to turn down, whilst we could easily be competing with Palace.
