I suspect 10 million up front means the total fee before add-ons and will be paid spread but the key in that would be 'suspect' - havent a clue. Sad to see him go but if we do need to scarifice then out of Phillips/Roofe/Jannson he would be my preferred sacrifice. Last year showed he had real potential (espcially as sub - less so as a starter) and although he lost it post illness think he showed his talent and class again back in the U21's. Will need to be handled and developed carefully but if he is could be fantastic Hate to see us selling our youth talent but if what we sadly need to do to get out of this league and will have to do until we've got out of this league.
Afternoon all... Radio 5 live sport today had Morris the Derby chairman chatting, Jim Watt is easily the biggest arse lick I’ve ever heard and he (Watt) still brings up Spygate at every opportunity
Morris has basically defrauded the football league by buying the Stadium, and leasing it back to the club, therefor staying within FFP
The money he gets from Chelsea will also go towards beating the points deduction he should be getting
Ah, got it, cheers Let's see how the EFL respond. Bielsa had a man stand in a public street looking at derby train and there was a rule change, expect a rule change about this as well. Not going to offer to hold my breath till it comes in though
That is why Boro have issued legal proceedings against Derby... Middlesbrough have stunned Derby County by announcing their intention to sue the Championship club, days before the play-off final at Wembley. Steve Gibson, the Middlesbrough owner, has taken drastic action in his dispute with Mel Morris by vowing to take legal action over what he insists are clear breaches of financial rules. Gibson is alleging that Morris has broken the English Football League’s profitability and sustainability rules and Middlesbrough officials contacted Derby on Friday to inform them of their stance. Boro are understood to be furious that Derby reported a £14.6m profit in their 2017/18 accounts, after Morris sold the club’s Pride Park stadium and then leased it back. Gibson believes that Morris has flouted the rules.
Vince Tan has gone about it in a slightly different way at Cardiff with our ground which the club wholly owns. The depreciated written down value of the CCS had reduced to £54M by 2017. In our last published accounts to May 2018 before our Prem promotion, Tan had it professionally revalued at the then current market value and that came out at £83M. That boosted the balance sheet by a whopping £29M. Although not yet reported, our income last season in the Prem and the subsequent parachute payments will have eliminated all financial restraints and compromises to meet FFP requirements for several years. Even if we can't get back up there, we've got ourselves into a position of financial strength that we could only have hoped for a few years back, especially with Tan writing off £80M of personal loans by converting them into equity. It all seems mercenary stuff, but that's the way the game is today.
