Finally someone has seen the light and will be investigating the deal that gave the World Cup to Qatar in particular reference to Platini's involvement. Surely it's as clear as day that money changed hands in at least 2 of the recently announced site awards and it is just further proof that our game is marred by some serious fraud and corruption by people and countries that are well known for skirting the rules.

You only have to look back to the debacle of a European final in Baku where suddenly tickets, airfares and hotels became like gold for the real followers of the finalists and when they arrived at the stadium they found out that the prawn sandwich mob failed to even turn up. We all know that Sepp Blatter was a target for those who believed that corruption and loose money found under the table were the reasons that questionable countries were given the rights to the finals without regard to all the others who were much more capable and willing to host the events.

Ah well I can rest comfortably in my bed knowing that Man Utd are prepared to offer Pogba 500k a week to stay because apparently he is so marketable despite being a serious problem at all levels and an asshole to boot. Life goes on regardless.

I would say lets boycott the WC in 2022 but we might actually do ok in it going by the last WC <laugh>

Maybe we should force pressure on FIFA to move it to another country. I know its a bit short notice to whoever would then host it but put it in a country that would already have the stadiums in place to handle it.

After all, Qatar is a muslim country, nothing against muslims here by the way, but will alcohol be banned? I honestly don't know if that is an issue or not. I am sure there will be some gay people who will be there but may get locked up if they hold hands for example. Then you got the heat which will be a major factor. And it will mess up our football season because the WC would take place during our winter months. I say just move it to the UK or somewhere else in Europe.

2022 - a winter world cup - it's going to be bedlam (but FIFA will not care)

Will the Premier League and Championship be halted?

Obviously the Premier League would have to stop.

I wonder how many Championship players would be involved in a World Cup?

That's not fair. Typical. By the time Rovers get to the Prem, they will have to stop because of this WC ;)

Don't worry about it <ok> You will be in L1 by then so you won't have any internationals to be concerned about ;)

    <laugh>

Well I have to say you are optimistic!!!

FIFA will not want teams playing for about 3 weeks before the tournament even starts - the impact on our domestic football will be huge

What would happen if England get knocked out in the groups? Would the Prem then re-start or wait until the WC is over?

We cant drop that low now in the time that's left. Well its been made easier for us not to drop that low because out of the 4 team who go down this coming season, 1 already has a 12 point deduction (Bolton) and another (Bury) looks set to also get a 12 point deduction.

Its not optimistic. Its not delusional either. Its just me having a laugh <ok>

at moment 213 teams will whittled down to 32 ….
    Qatar .. ……….. 1
    Europe ...…..... .13
    Africa ........……..5
    Asia … ………... 5 or 4!
    S America …. ...5 or 4!
    N America ….. 4 or 3
    Oceania ………. 1 or 0
(32 = = = = = = 34 or 30 ) so last4 areas are going to field 13 teams ..Oceania is AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND + a load of smaller "island countries" so one would assume Aussies at least will Qualify via 1 of the 2 inter continental play off's.
So only 1 of the other 3 continents will field their quota of 5 or 4 …..
PLAYERS playing for English leagues in 2018 was 129 out of 736 …
50 players were from MAN C; SPURS; CHELSEA; MAN U ….. [ all Englands players were from England domestic leagues ]
Belgium squad had 11 players from ENGLISH LEAGUE's
    543 PLAYED IN EUROPEAN TEAMS
It will be interesting to see what the difference might be … should "us older'uns" make it TO see the 2022 WORLD CUP! I suspect it might be last chance to see them WIN IT ! I was lucky to see the 1966 victory albeit from a bar in Scotland! [ when the locals & family were all for it guess it was because it was Germany! but having said that back then there was no animosity or leaving the UK or womble or fish face .. JUST THE ANNUAL England v Scotland sporting encounters].
Already this coming season a few of the lower based teams are picking up the odd "non native player from Europe or elsewhere!
Imagine a world cup where 300 of the players played for English teams!
