A Millwall fan that I know is absolutely fuming and probably with some justification. Boxing Day: Away to Cardiff!
Why? Tottenham generally start for England when all of the other big teams pull their players out with fractured eye lashes etc.
Newcastle announce Benexit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48746689 Ashley had better make himself scarce...
I’ve got quite a few mates who are Newcastle fans from my time up there. I wouldn’t say they have taken this well
He can get lost in one of his Sports Direct shops. I know I usually do. They do a terrific job in hiding the exit.
Practicality over capacity is my guess, considering the average attendance of both clubs is somewhere between 55-60k, and it's telling that out of a combined 38 games played there last season only four came close to filling the stadium, namely the two Milan derbies and the two games against Juventus Also, it's not the first time a major Italian team has moved to a smaller stadium, as Juventus ditched the 69k capacity Stadio delle Alpi for the 41k capacity Juventus/Allianz Stadium a few years back
Time for some depressing reading: https://www.transfermarkt.com/serie-a/besucherzahlen/wettbewerb/IT1/saison_id/2018/plus/1 Check out the sold out matches section: 5 for Serie A last season. 5. For the whole division. ****ing hell. Napoli only lost two home games, finished 2nd and had an average attendance of 37.5%. Given the poor travelling habits of Italian fans, it looks like Juve might have gone a little low, though. The two Milanese clubs would probably be selling out virtually every week with a 60,000 capacity, too.
Could it be that allowing a situation where Juve are guaranteed to win the league every year (even if they have to pay officials) has lessened Italians' appetite for top level league football? Even Juve don't seem to be able to shift tickets to watch the procession. City's owners may think that winning everything, all the time, is a great idea...but that's because they have no ****ing idea about what makes sport wonderful.
BBC London going with gossip that Fat Frank is in the running as new Chelsky manager, If so, the "full kit w*nker" cannot be far behind ...
It's actually a smart move. He'll enjoy enormous fan support during what will be a tricky time what with Hazard leaving and the transfer ban. If he gets it right he could end up being Roman's first long term manager. And if he gets it wrong people will just palm it off on inexperience, lack of signings etc. and his next job will almost certainly be with a PL club. It's a win win from both perspectives which annoys me. The only solution I see is that he gets them relegated.
...while the fan meltdown after they sack such a loyal servant to the club (who was so loyal he promptly ****ed off to the Sheikh Mansour Empire when he realised they had even more money than Uncle Roman...) could make for amusing viewing
