There are possibly more intricacies at work and dominoes which we can't see. Bringing in a new wide attacker for the squad might mean fare-thee-well to GKN and even Lamela, which would clear the ground for more 'relevant' signings to come in. As I said last week, for all the talk of N'Dombele, Lo Celso, Clarke and Sessegnon being 'done deals' there is no way i can see Levy sanctioning an outlay of over £190m without doing anything to reduce the net spend. We aren't Man City. I think we have enough down the back of the couch for one big signing but the rest will need deadwood to drift downstream.
Do you think that when Daniel Levy plays Monopoly, he doesn't buy any properties, but just goes round the board collecting his £200 and hoping he doesn't land on anyone else's?
Isn't he supposed to be going back on loan, though? If so, then why remove Leeds from his social media accounts?
My fear is GKN gets replaced by someone else who doesn't get a look in. We don't have to be Man City in order to make sure whoever we buy has a real purpose.
Different reports are saying different things. Some saying he’s coming straight into our squad, others that he’ll stay there for the season. I’d much rather we bring him in straight away, so long as he gets chances. Whilst a few top dollar signings are needed to more or less guarantee quality, I think getting a bit of young blood into the side/ squad could help add that bite we’ve seemingly lacked in the past 18-24 months.
He puts transparent houses on the bits he owns, that you don't see until you land on them and have to pay the (Levy) tax. And then he builds a big "f*ck off" building on one of his properties, with money the other players did not think he had.
It is not 190m in one payment. The money is there for the targets, the payment T+Cs are what determines whether any deadwood has to be shifted first. I doubt the latter is a problem given the effective selling clubs.
GKN is one of those players, who shows one of Pochs weakspots in my opinion. In his limited opportunities I thought he did ok and should have been given more opportunities particularly as a sub to prove his worth. But Poch seemed to decide quite early on that he wasn't up to the job. Having said that he sees him every day in training and I don't.
The one thing that I think works in Poch’s favour with his treatment of GK is that neither Burnley or Monaco played him much when he was on loan there, whilst I appreciate some loan signings just purely struggle to fit in, it would lean more towards that there’s something just not quite right about him, whether that’s his talent or his attitude/ work rate.
In terms of his Monaco loan, he had a couple of early sub appearances - and then did his hamstring...although the fact Monaco didn't bother mentioning this indicates how unimportant they thought he was That's the problem with GKN's stint at the club: he arrived ridiculously late due to Marseille deciding they hadn't ****ed us around enough that transfer window so had no pre-season or anything, and after that he kept picking up injuries at the worst possible times, because when we had a cup game against a lower league team where he might have been expected to get a run-out he was invariably injured so one of the first team had to play instead
Gladbach supposedly interested in Schalke's Breel Embolo, if they sign him there's rumours Schalke might move for Janssen... Come on, Gladbach, help a brother out!
We were linked with Embolo back when he was a legit exciting prospect at Basel ...now two years later, Janssen's seen as an upgrade
It's not like I said several times over the past six months that Mino "****" Raiola was the obvious stumbling block or anything...
Few more reports running with the Janssen to Schalke story (without even mentioning if that’s down to Embolo leaving or not) whilst one report in Belgium is saying Anderlecht has agreed a deal for him. As for incomings, Clarke is very much looking like a done deal as just about every media outlet is saying it now. Also, reports are saying Ndombele is excited about our ‘project’ and we’re now the outright favourites to land him. All that remains is Aulas and Levy - the two best and most feared negotiators in football - to come to an agreement, shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Apparently, the Janssen to Anderlecht news is putting it too strongly. They're ready to do some business and Janssen is one possibility to be part of that... ...I can't see it being a problem He's fit and young enough to make a fresh start and have a good career, if he leaves the late night kebabs alone. Of the players that we might want to shift, he's a small problem, I would've thought?
