A bit harsh- if you remember he was in the form of his life and then had that unlucky injury against City. It cost him going to the World Cup.
True. But it he was given one chance and didn’t make the impact he needed. Had he been given more chances I’m sure he would have taken them. Real shame about his injuries, he could have been a top PL strikers.
Sadly, some players who get a call up based on club form, and do well, still don’t nail down a regular England game. Ricky Lambert scored 3 in 11 appearances, a better ratio than Stirling. That’s life though, and I guess, in fairness, there are only a limited number of spaces available!
If we sign Adams, then i’d be ok with it but I think the Media are making a bigger fuss of this transfer than it deserves. Carrillo saga may have woken the board up a bit regarding quality to fees and personally okerke looks better to me. I’d still take Bowen from Hull over both.
I'd be happy to bring in someone like Okereke alongside another striker, with both Long and Austin outbound. Having a strike force of the oft-injured Ings, the still pretty raw Okereke, Long and the (according to Ralph) talented-but-not-hardworking-enough Obafemi sounds like a recipe for a lot of Shane Long.
If this is true then fantastic. Price wise - almost a straight swap: Targett out and Adams in. Absolute no brainer.
