Well, could have done with Constantinople for a treble on the day but Sangarius and Star Catcher were good winners earlier. Mixed reaction to Constantinople's run. I thought he ran a mighty race after travelling well when conceding weight to the whole field. I thought he had it won but South Pacific came out and denied him getting 10 lbs from Constantinople. Giving weight in Handicaps is not easy, otherwise we would all be on the top weight every time. SkyBet pushed Constantinople out to 20/1 for the St Leger but a couple of firms cut him into 10/1. The Leger rarely turns out to be as competitive as the early market suggests and some horses go to other targets, while some have their form tail off after hard races earlier on. O'Brien described Constantinople as a big baby that they would go gentle with and that is why they came the Handicap route this week.
fair play to this punter, sometimes your just safer sticking with your favourite jockey through a card.
Just catching up I see o’briens Winner in the last once again no nose band on the bridle. That’s four winners for him. It seems to be very fashionable in equestrian circles to ride horses without the noseband . Aiden seems to be ahead of the game.
Come on then Florida, educate me, what difference dos it make to the horse and how it runs...?? I presume it's to do with the control of the horse...??
I’m no expert but I’ve just noticed this week his winners have run with out a nose bands and the jolly’s today also. As I understand it, it helps keep them relaxed and doesn’t put so much pressure on their mouth from the bit. Some people say the bridle is their to keep the horses under control and they can tend to fight it. I imagine aob has been on a course on horse whispering course and so with the horse being comfortable and relaxed they find their own balance and don’t get lit up. My friend started riding like this recently and says her horse is so light in the hand.
