i also really reccomend anyone thinking of visiting the us to go cincinnati for the football it reminded me of lokeren visiting city ****ing brilliant plus the food is brilliant usa footy fans are incredible compared to uk fans whatever you say about them every home game is a huge deal, uk footy fans are the worst in the world for football its similar to nfl, outside the stadium is a huge party wereas in comparison visiting the kc is like a trip to a library goal music is bad? us football matches are mindblowing literally feels like visiting the kc for a matchday is going to a library plus its really cheap to visit compared to new york even with the extra flight
Happy with McCann. Decent record for a newish manager and as someone else has mentioned, hasn't ever had big money to spend. Id be surprised though if anyone was prepared to join without at least some of the income from player sales being reinvested - I'd be shocked if we spent in excess of any money raised - so assume that we get 20mil for JB and KG and spend 7mil on new recruits.. It might be just enough to keep us up, who knows
According to the Donnie fans its a done deal, the talk on their board (Viking chat) is who will be their next manager, I'll reserve judgement if it is him, I remember Phil Parkinson being the best thing since slice bread on his arrival, that didn't work out too well did it.
Seem to remember that before Adkins was appointed the were a number of other names who were done deal which turned out not to be done. Also was there something in the news about the Allams being away so there would be no business done this week? who's been negotiating on their behalf?
I'm sure we've sounded out his agent and made sure there's interest, but we haven't even spoken to him yet, so I think this talk of a done deal is a little premature.
Who ever takes on a new job, a lot to begin with is what players will he have left at the club, sometimes managers get a new job have a decent squad only need a couple of signings and do well, in which case to the fans he's a great manager. In our case it looks like we won't have our front three and could lose a few others so there is a decent amount of rebuilding which will really find out how good the new man is. The big problem he will have is yes he will have an idea who he wants but the funds regarding not just fee's but wages will have to be in place, how ever we all suspect and more or less know that won't be the case and he will have to rely on loans and free's so bringing in the right players will be very difficult. Yes if it's McCann he will know the lower leagues which could prove invaluable but for those players it's a step up but one hopefully they can do well in. Who ever gets the job it will be a massive test but hopefully he will do well.
Just reading your strap line again and the words of 'our' wise leader and remembering his discussion. Even now, it really still beggars belief that the old crackpot genuinely believed what he was saying. The shorter the name the more powerful ... Coca Cola, 8 letters. Hull City, 8 letters, so he wanted to change it to Hull Tigers, 10 letters. ****ing unbelievable.
Whoever gets the job is going to need all the help/support/goodwill he can get from supporters. Assuming they start tomorrow (I know) it's 42 days until City kick off at Swansea. As you mention above, players leaving/decent amount of rebuilding/availability of funds are just some of the obstacles to overcome. At least Adkins had the benefit of a previous half season and a full pre season to implement his philosophy. But 6 weeks is a tall order. Massive test, I would say is an understatement.
Pre-season training starts on monday ? The club are thinking about talking to the prospective new manager today ?
If it does turn out to be McCann wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of Donny players follow, plus eight others of course! Yet again we start the season with a squad decimated, i'm anticipating a 'slow start' yet again! I'm also expecting a Sutcliffe at The YP interview, with Ehab highlighting how well run we are! Plus how he'll give the new manager a fiver from the funds received from Harrys pending move to Man City.
In the world of Allam, that's the perfect scenario – they’ve still got a week of Nige’s wages left to pay, and they won’t want to be paying any replacement ‘til at least after 1st July. in fact they'll probably make Nige come in next week if he's still on pay
The club have no option other than to honour Niges contract! Equally Nige won't be announcing any career changes and potential new employment until post this date.
With little to no money to spend on players, do we have the right to judge how good our next manager is? It's easy to predict after ten games and we're struggling in the bottom three and people shouting 'manager out'. We need a manager who has nothing to lose, someone who needs to rebuild his reputation, someone who understands he isn't going to be 'manager' and will be expected to get results with the players he's given and like it. People will still shout 'manager out', no matter the circumstances. Poison chalice.
The poison chalice didn't do Steve Bruce, Marco Silva and Nigel Adkins any harm did it ? Don't think Mike Phelan's on the bones of his arse either at Manchester United. Even Slutsky's walked straight into another job.
I know what your saying , but I don't think that's necessarily the case . We all know they won't have a lot to work with , but it's what they do with it .square pegs in round holes, bizarre substitutions etc , I think as long as they seem to be doing their best , fans will be forgiving with the circumstances . But I think sometimes it works the other way and fans are too forgiving of weird tactics and subs because of the owners . You can still do your best with what you are given , even if not given much
