Bognor Regis Town FC snap up two former Pompey Academy youngsters released by the club.

Both 19 year old striker Dan Smith, and 18 year old midfielder Freddie Read have been signed by Bognor.

London born Dan Smith scored 12 goals in 19 games for them on loan last season, before joining Irish club Cork City also on loan, making 8 appearances. He also made his Pompey debut in January this year in the Checkatrade Trophy against Southend Utd.

Southsea born Freddie Read made 3 loan appearances for Bognor, and 6 for Gosport Borough last season, as well as making his Pompey debut in the Checkatrade Trophy against Arsenal Under 21's, last December.

Two players in, and one player out today !!

Matt Clarke has finally completed his transfer to Premier League side Brighton , for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £4 million, with add ons, which should take it up to £5 million in total. He has signed a four year contract, and whilst extremely sorry to see him go, I really wish him the very best of luck for his future. A very talented player. Apparently, Pompey have to hand over 20% of the fee to his former club Ipswich Town.

Talking of Ipswich Town, Pompey have just completed the signing of their 25 year old striker Ellis Harrison on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be £450,000.

Finally, we have at last completed the free transfer signing of 27 year old centre half Paul Downing from Blackburn Rovers on a three year contract. We apparently beat Doncaster Rovers to his signature.

More than 10,000 supporters have now joined the Blue Army by securing their 2019/20 Pompey season ticket

This milestone has been achieved earlier than last summer and includes more than 1,000 new season ticket holders.

Fans who want to purchase a seat, but were not season ticket holders for the 2018/19 campaign, must now wait until Wednesday, July 3. This is because all previously available seats have now been snapped up.

Alternatively, you are advised to register your interest in a 2019/20 season ticket, giving you an email straight to your inbox at 9am on Wednesday with a direct link to secure your seat.

Supporters who have yet to renew their season ticket need to act quickly.

Their seat will only be reserved until 5.30pm on Friday, June 28 – at which point the early bird period of prices also comes to an end.

Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin said: “We have, once again, received an amazing response from our supporters.

“To have sold more season tickets than at this stage last year is fantastic and shows that we are on course to beat last season’s impressive total.”

Pompey have a fight on their hands to sign Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt.

That’s according to The Sun's transfer gossip expert Alan Nixon in today’s copy of the paper.

The report claims the Blues are chasing 6' 3" Curtis Tilt to bolster their central-defensive options.

However, the 27-year-old would apparently cost Kenny Jackett’s men ‘a sizeable fee’ while his wage demands could also be a problem.

Tilt was born in England and is of Jamaican descent.

Pompey target George Edmundson of Oldham Athletic has signed for Glasgow Rangers.

Good luck to Clarke who has shown respect to the club and deserves a shot at the big time.

Might not get another offer from a Prem club.

    Sean Raggett Arrives On Loan.

Pompey have signed 6' 6" central defender Sean Raggett on a season-long loan from Norwich.

There is no option for the 26 year old player – who had a stint at Rotherham last term – to be recalled by his parent club.

please log in to view this image

Blues boss Kenny Jackett said: “The additions of Sean and Paul Downing have strengthened our defensive options and give us good competition in that area.

“He’s played all of his career as a left-side centre-half and is someone I’ve followed since his non-league days.

“We’re delighted to bring him to Pompey and very much look forward to working with him next season.

“He’s a very determined person and is just coming into his prime. He’ll be looking at this as a big opportunity to progress.”

Raggett came through the ranks at Dover and made more than 100 appearances before signing for Lincoln in the summer of 2016.

He has played twice for the Canaries and appeared alongside fellow Blues newcomer Ryan Williams while on loan at Rotherham last season.

Kenny Jackett has confirmed today that 28 year old right back Nathan Thompson is definitely leaving Pompey at the end of his contract on 1st July.

Foregone conclusion really that he would depart, and I'm sure that he will be snapped up by a Championship team in the near future. Wish him well.

Almost 14,000 supporters have already snapped up their seat – higher than at this stage of any other year since the Blues exited administration.

Portsmouth lead the race to sign Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie on loan deal.

please log in to view this image

RANGERS midfielder Ross McCrorie is set to leave Ibrox on loan as Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town eye a deal until the end of the season.

Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard has added seven players - including Steven Davis and Joe Aribo - to his squad this summer and McCrorie could find his chances of first team football limited in the coming months.

Portsmouth are the favourites to clinch a deal for McCrorie as the 21-year-old gets set to head south of the border to continue his development after making 50 appearances over the last two terms for Rangers.

Pompey narrowly missed out promotion to the Championship last season and Fratton Park boss Kenny Jackett is set to beat Shrewsbury to the signing of McCrorie this summer.

At 6' 3", he can play both defensive midfield and at centre half. Has played at international level from Under 15's up to under 21's for Scotland. He is captain of Scotland Under 21's.

Apparently, Pompey have also requested an option to buy the player. McCrorie and his representatives will fly to the south coast on Friday in a bid to try and thrash out some sort of an agreement.

His twin brother Robby is also on Rangers books as a goalkeeper.

Apparently, Barnsley have tabled a 'substantial bid' to Coventry for ex-Portsmouth favourite Conor Chaplin.

Former Luton striker Aaron Jarvis departs from Fratton Park, after failing to impress Kenny Jackett after a weeks trial.

Pompey may let midfielder Louis Dennis depart (hopefully for a fee !) once they have signed a replacement.

Reserve keeper Luke McGee who is pushing for a transfer away from Fratton Park to seek first team football elsewhere, is not included in Pompey's squad due to travel to Dublin.

Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie has moved to Portsmouth on loan for the coming season.

Neither club have yet confirmed the switch, but Football Scotland reported on Friday that the 21-year-old has signed a one-year loan deal, rejecting the chance to join Sunderland instead.

The outlet believe that the English League One side will also have first option to buy the player next summer should Rangers decide to sell him. Apparently, he can be recalled by Rangers in January 2020.

    Sounds like a good move.
The central defenders we have got in are really a replacement for Clarke but could hardly be considered a strengthening of the squad.
Similarly the right back is a replacement for Thompson and Williams a replacement for Lowe if he leaves.
Our hopes for an improvement in the squad appear to hinge on Harrison as a striker (and possibly Louis Dennis if he is given a chance) and this new mid fielder.
The midfield poses a dilemma. At times it appears to be a weakness whilst, at an individual level, Naylor and Close have acquitted themselves well.
My sense is we should have a third mid- fielder laying deeper. This would give a greater opportunity to play the ball forward from the back four and reduce the amount of 'hoof ball' that goes over the mid--field.
The other possibilities for mid-field strengthening are Cannon and Morris who, at this stage, remain largely unknown quantities.

Dion Donohue: Mansfield Town sign former Portsmouth midfielder

please log in to view this image

League Two side Mansfield Town have signed ex-Portsmouth midfielder Dion Donohue on a two-year-deal.

The former Chesterfield player joined Pompey in 2017, but was not offered a new contract by the League One club at the end of last season.

Donohue, 25, scored one goal in 14 appearances in 2018-19.

He is the third signing of the summer by the Stags following the arrivals of Andy Cook from Walsall and Nicky Maynard from Bury.

Portsmouth, Wycombe and Cambridge eye loan move for Norwich City winger
please log in to view this image

Norwich City winger Diallang Jaiyesimi looks set for a season-long loan ahead of the new campaign and Portsmouth, Wycombe and Cambridge United are all interested in the youngster according to Sky Sports.

The twenty-one-year-old was sent out on a season-long loan last season to Yeovil Town, but his campaign prematurely ended after he ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament during a 1-1 draw with MK Dons in September.

He managed eleven outings for the Glovers and scored two goals before returning to Carrow Road for surgery.

Born in London, and originally from Dulwich Hamlet's Aspire academy, he joined Norwich City in 2016. The 5' 9" winger/attacking midfielder/striker is according to Wiki "athletic, powerful with a physical presence, really quick, he can play on the left or right and can play the number 10 position".

Soounds good to me and if Jamal is off, I feel this guy´s presence could compensate.

PS: If Jamal goes I hope it is to someone like Real Mallorca as this would benefit him professionally and personally. I wonder if he would do himself any favours playing for a Championship club?
