Members aren't relevant here. It's voters that matter to Corbyn. More Working class Remain than Leave, but not much. I'd guess most of those Leave are up North. Support for a second referendum will send many of those to the Brexit Party. Together with Middle Class Leave that's up to 28% of Corbyn's votes that could go. It may be the right thing for Corbyn to do, given the leak to Lib Dems, but it may deprive him of this chance for government. Labour is becoming a party of the metropolitan elite
39bn is nowt to the EU they are ready and willing to just get rid of us. Then we shall see exactly how great Boris and Farage really are Fur coat no knickers The globals hold the power
Rumour is that the Party wanted to avoid his continual blue-on-blue adversarial approach. Personally, I'm glad he's gone. He'd have had no more backbone dealing with the EU than Theresa May
FFS bet the blue sheep are lapping this up It’s all a con Looks to me that the toffs have eaten their little rebel. it’s all very smoke and mirrors I expect we will have a small terror incident soon just to put the Javid sheep back in their pen. The sheep like Boris the puppet he is funny He makes them all happy Stewart looked like he had found a hole in the fence hope the bloke jumps out and even joins a proper political party with ethics
If Corbyn gives in (as it seems he most probably will) I think the exciting vision myself and many others who returned back to Labour when he was elected as leader, is now but a pipe dream. Whereas what was promised was the possibility of a true Left Wing government, that actually gave a **** for normal, working class people has now become a party that is happy to pander to the ‘metropolitan elite’. The likes of Tony Benn and Bob Crow (vehement opponents to what the EU had become) would be turning in their graves. Hopefully TUSC will be returning to action soon.
Yes, that's the sad thing, Stainsy, and the only thing I can say in Corbyn's defence, is he tried to fight against it, though for reasons mainly that he couldn't afford to lose the Leave vote. It's hard to see where votes like yours go. A lot will go to the Brexit Party. Though tere's always a chance that Farage and Boris come to a non-competition arrangement in a GE.
I think you’re correct, many of the northern, working class, ‘traditional’ Labour voters, will transfer their vote over to the Brexit Party (sadly). I can only hope that some of them might just look a bit deeper and realise that Farage and his ilk are as much an enemy of the working class as Thatcher was before him. Sad for me as I really thought our time had come.
As India now has a bigger economy than the UK's will they be sending some foreign aid back to help the poor
The silver lining for you is that once Brexit is done, there'll be a reckoning for all the parties and I'd bet a traditional working class party will appear in some guise or other
[ A YouGov poll had him as the best performer in the debate. That was a poll of normal people though.
I am baffled as to how any 'traditional' Labour voter (for I am one) could vote for a far-right party like Farage's mob.
