Not sure if it was a poor ride or magical didn’t want to past... thought crystal ocean had gone for home too early but saw out every yard and looks like could be even better over an extra 2 furlongs

Glendevon in the royal hunt cup at a big price. Hasn’t got much form to shout about but was third in a listed race. This front runner is a bit speedy and could nick a place.

I cannot say that I thought Frankie went too early. In last year’s King George, William Buick went for home at the top of the straight and got collared in the last fifty yards by his stablemate Poet’s Word on quick ground.

Frankie knew that his horse had the stamina, had him up with the leader while the hold-up horses all floundered in the mud behind.

Ryan did all he could on Magical in the conditions. Had it not been so soft she might have picked up the winner but it blunted her speed.

I expect to see more of the same while it remains miserable – nothing is going to come from the back unless a race is run at a crawl. Hunting Horn did his job for Magical but Crystal Ocean rained on her parade.

seems like all the office workers have gone home :D

One race to go and joint leaders of day 2 on 80 points are Paul and Mandrake, closely followed by Simon and NDS on 70 <ok>

No naps left and 10 different selections in the last

Deserved G1 win for Crystal Ocean, Enable has nothing to fear imo, she put both the top 2 away comfy last year and she beat sea of class when well below her best in the arc.

As shown by the shocking overround on every race, this is a complete bookie meeting, terrible coverage as well on TV, I've just been watching the replays and bet on only a few races.

A million miles from betting on stone cold g1 certainties in America.

Place money from Liberty Beach in the opener at 25/1. She ran well, being first home on her side. Drawn 6, it was the high draws who had the best of it. It was a good run in the circumstances.

Jalmoud was beaten very early on, he pulled far too hard and I thought he had stumbled and was going to come down at one stage. As ever, when a horse who wants to go faster finally gets the chance to do so from the jockey, he does go faster but sadly in a backwards direction. It was a pathetic effort and he never had a prayer. The Ballydoyle pair sat at the rear and just never got involved. Norway didn't do a lot for the Derby form there, finishing in arrears of an 86 rated stablemate. It looked a poor quality race and you wouldn't be running out to back Norway for the St Leger after watching that.

I was surprised they ran Sea Of Class today. It looked a bad idea and they got what they deserved. Sea Of Class was pushed out to 8/1 for the Arc and that makes little appeal to me after today. Roger Varian got the bright idea to reinvent Zabeel Prince as a 10F horse as a 6YO. I said all along that the Queen Anne was his race and the attempt at the Prince Of Wales was an embarrassing failure, tailed off and running to a mark lower than he did in a Redcar maiden back in the day. What a waste of a Royal Ascot and Lord Glitters should be sending Varian a Thank You card for his faux pas. Crystal Ocean did the business but I suspect this was a moderate renewal on bad ground.

In the Hunt Cup New Graduate was goosed by the Soft ground, the Coffin Corner Box of Trap 1 and Alex Hammond's selection. Add in my ante-post bet and the horse was crucified well and truly. Kynren continues to run well in these big fields and he did a good job from Box 3. He seems to have a fair following though and is likely to keep going off a bit shorter than he should do.

Probably my least favourite day of the meeting and hopefully tomorrow will see some better action.

Fair assessment but contrary to the view of the ITV commentator who 2/3s through the race reckoned Jalmond had travelled strongly throughout. It was obvious after half a mile that Jalmond was never getting home after tossing his head around like a stripper in a lap dancing club from the off. Someone on here yesterday said the ITV commentator (not Hoiles but the other one) was awful and his reading of that race confirmed it. Terrible.
