This is slightly concerning selling to a rival. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...set-for-shock-exit-to-doncaster-rovers-190998
Id hope so but not getting promoted might have hampered this deal. He wants to play in the Championship and his boyhood club, Millwall want to resign him.
If we're hoping to offload Oviedo's wages by moving him on then to sell James as well dos'ent make a lot of sense leaving us with Hume as our only left back. interesting to see what sort of money we get in from Doncaster if this goes ahead.
Respectfully disagree. I think he's incredibly poor. Hume is much better than him from what I've seen and I think if we get rid of Oviedo for wages we can get someone better in.
No he a CB by trade but he can do a job there if need be. Hume will be our first choice now next season i think
Hardly gonna jolt our season. He was a rabbit caught in the headlights for most of last season. Marquis coming the other way would be good.
IMO he's an average (at best) left back so it doesn't really bother me him going there. If we sold them Hume or McGeady or O'Nien then I'd be disappointed. What I'd find interesting is whether therer was a fee - he'd just signed a one year extension so surely there must be some incentive - in which case that one year extension is great business by the club!!
Not one to lose sleep over, squad player at best and injury prone. I'd rather be hearing about the squad being strengthened than weakened though, getting impatient for news already haha.
According to the press, he went for an undisclosed fee. He was a squad player who would have been backup next season, so I'm not going to lose any sleep. Is there anyone in the under 23's ready to step up?
I doubt it He may have been an understudy but I think he was ok. Let’s see what his replacement is like
I'd sell any of them 3 if the money was right, ones getting on and on big money with a year on his contract , ones unproven in mid field and a bit in and out as a right back and Hume is always injured. We never agree on nowt do we
I think he was decent for league one but not exactly promotion material. Most people have it spot on, he was average. The issue isn't him going but rather who he is replaced by - an average/ below average back-up player or a first teamer?
I'd desperately keep McGeady is he wants to stay. I think it's unrealistic to think an overhaul of the team is going to catapult Sunderland back into the Championship so for my money it's a case of adding another quality couple of players and a bit of general depth to the players already here. McGeady is too good for this league, lose him and he'll be replaced with someone worse as I can't see players of his calibre choosing League One.
