Not sure what to make of that really. Too Darn Hot seemed to have everything covered, then just faded out of it in the last hundred yards, as a lot of horses have today.
As I can't hit a barn door with a banjo at the moment just checked out the cricket... Mr Morgan these are very impressive stats... 'Eoin Morgan since the India series last year, 19 innings and 1,024 runs, averaging 78.7 with a strike rate of 112.' Very acceptable...
Given the conditions at Ascot surely Snow Falcon's stamina will come into play? 10/1 looks worth an e/w poke
Too Darn Hot and Phoenix Of Spain were 10 lbs and 9 lbs clear of Circus Maximus and King Of Comedy respectively on Official Ratings. It looks a simple case that the two were overrated by the Assessor. Too Darn Hot had already been dropped 6 lbs from his peak of last season and I reckon he needs to go down a few pounds more now. Phoenix Of Spain was simply overrated for winning the Irish Guineas. There were questions at the time about the proximity of more moderately rated horses but those who award ratings almost always simply give higher marks, rather than ponder that some horses were simply not as good as they thought. When considering the French Derby I had nominated Circus Maximus as one of the more likely of Aidan's to appreciate the 2F shorter trip than Epsom but I thought a mile would have been on the short side for him and there was nothing really to suggest he was a true Group 1 horse either. King Of Comedy won a Listed contest last time and he's run really well today but I suspect it's a case of the bigger guns not carrying the firepower that some felt they possessed. Shaman ran OK in 5th without having the pace to get involved, he may land something decent back home when he gets a bog again. I was considering Sangarius for later in the week because when he ran behind King Of Comedy last time he looked like a step up in trip was required. That run looks better after the Gosden colt's run today but the Stoute form remains a query.
Comp: Cyc is leading the pack with one race to go ...... tailed off is Oddy, almost out for a duck, needing Willie John to be placed. Not that I'm much better myself, with just 1 place to count my own.
ascot,5 35: WOLFERTON STAKES ELARQAM is another one i like a lot,and he went about his business really strongly last time out.so,if hes in the same vein of form today, will run a massive race..
Knew I shouldn't have ****ing bothered Desperate stuff that today, good job I only bet at the Cheltenham Festival
Phoenix of Spain benefitted from an obvious track bias at the curragh as did hermosa, so she probably isnt as superior as she looked that day either
Since the last horse to do the double was Dawn Approach and it has only been done five times, folks that take that price would probably be better burning their money to keep warm over the winter while watching the slow old plodders on TV.
Arizona is generally 14/1 for the Guineas, only BetVictor went 6/1 so strange to focus on that one price that no one will be taking the two obvious standouts in the Coventry finished 1st and 2nd, I took 50/1 Threat for the Guineas and hes now generally 25/1, he ran well for only his second run and looks a high class 2yo, see how he progresses.
