This is a decent summary really. As for strikers, Drmic has the advantage of being able to play up front or on either flank. At 26, he is coming into his prime with top level playing experience a d in theory, we could afford him as well as Rhodes or another striker. The main question is his injuries, but that is less of a risk on a free transfer, though his wages could be another factor.

Are we all writing off Denis Srbeny too early? I thought he did well in his cameos last year, scored 2 against Cardiff, one against Villa and got that assist for Hernandez on the opening day.
We didn’t think Stiepermann would play such a big part of last season could Srbeny be the same?

No, he was broadly speaking playing second fiddle even to Rhodes. Neither in my umble are up to the PL. I think it would be negligent of Webber and Farke to go into the season without some one who can genuinely challenge Pukki's starting place. I kind of hope with little/no evidence to back it up that Idah will be ready to leapfrog Srbeny for the 2nd/3rd role. Assuming of course that he doesn't go out on loan.

Have we signed a striker yet?

    Bah!

Yes General, IMHO, DF may well be thinking that Idah is capable of making the step up - though it may well be a case that a loan deal is being negotiated and only time will tell.

Villa getting Hause for £3m is pretty damn good business from Villa.

Considering our emphasis on getting business done early and the considered advantage of knowing we were promoted witrhout the delay of the playoffs, we are looking like we are seriously dragging our feet next to Villa.
This is the probable advantage they have of I guess paying market rate quickly, You get the feeling that in doubtless driving hard bargains or trying to get free agents we leave: players, agents and clubs all looking around for a better offer.
That's not to say I'm pannicking but...................................

Hause already had a loan at Villa, with an option to buy which they've now activated. El Ghazi was also a loanee that they've now turned permanent.

Admittedly, Jota and Wesley are new players to Villa, so they're clearly getting things done, but I don't think they're too far ahead of us - particularly as highlighted they aren't as fussed about overspending. £22m for Wesley is probably more than we'll spend all summer.

Overpaying or not they are still making things happen. I think as Webber eluded to in his interview, perhaps we are struggling with the perception that we have mega millions to blow and the agents, players and other clubs all think they can screw us for considerably more. If there were even a shred of truth to some of the rumours then I'd say we are being overly ambitious in some of our targets, but then we should be ambitious, we need to improve not stand still but get a little deeper. I might start to pannick if no one else has signed by pre-season kickoff, not because we would be in a terrible state as is, but it would be reflective of a failed transfer strategy. Still every faith in Webber to get the required bodies in, just a soul destroying monday that would be brightened by news of our squad being bolstered by a statistically handsome unheard of.

    Bah!

p.s. Have we signed a striker yet?

I don't understand this fretting about other teams' signings. It was the same last summer but the season proved that what matters is not who our opponents put on the field but who we put on the field. Seems to me that trust in SW, DF and our scouting network is only skin deep in some cases.

Also plenty of rumours we're about to announce a new 5-year deal for Ben Godfrey. Paddy Davitt's given it the "#nocircus" seal of approval on twitter...

The Mayor signs a new contract

I'm not too bothered we haven't signed any new players, I'm perfectly happy to see the winning Championship team start next season, getting business done early by giving out new contracts to existing players.
