Being heavily linked with Yannick Carrasco again, with the Belgian winger saying "There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well" Let's hope that offer is from Arsenal. He's a fine winger and was really good at Atletico. He'd be a quality signing for us. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/foot...nal-transfer-target-yannick-carrasco-16280910
Soo far the most feasible rumouirs seem to be... Praet(CM) and Anderson(CB) Saliba(CB) - Really like the look of this guy. Carrasco Tierney No Big names. But all players who would improve the squad and fix problem areas. All under 25 as well.
Be nice to have more hungry younger players that we can mould, rather older set in their ways useless over paid mercenary's...
Would be thrilled if we get all those - but surely we can’t? With our budget only 2-3 of those I think.
Little depressing to see West Ham signing Fornals. He's a fantastic player. Would have been a good signing for us.
Realy hope we go for Ryan Fraser. He was brilliant for Bournemouth last season. Only 25 so he's coming into his best years. He is a fine player and knows the PL, I think last year he was only behind Hazard in assists. I think he'd supply loads of goals for Auba and Laca
I kinda hope we dont blow all our budget on a winger. Think Priorities should be a replacemnt for Ramsey and CB's. We also have R.Nelson coming into the side and I hope he is given a fair run, kid looks a good talent.
You'd hope that the club have funds to get a winger, CB and CM. But some of that surely depends on who we can shift out ? If we can sell Mustafi, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Elneny, Ospina, Jenkinson, then that gives us a decent budget on top of the £40m That said, I agree that Nelson should be given a run in this team, but I don't think we should just rely on him to come back in and solve our winger problem all on his own for 40+ games. There's room for at least two wingers in this team, especially now Welbeck is gone. It's also a massive season for Iwobi this time. I want to see him shooting more, because I think he's more of a Welbeck type of player, a wing forward rather than an an out and out winger.
I dont think we have a winger problem. I actually dont think we should even be playing wingers except when resting Auba/Laca or for tactical adjustments. Our starting 11 for me should facilitate two up top. We are fortunate enough to have two top class CF's why stick one out wide?! If the 45m budget is correct (and it seems to be) then spending 25-30m on Fraser or Carrasco would be crazy. Perhaps if we can sell a few players and bring in more funds only then I would be looking at that position.
I'm not talking about putting Auba/Laca out wide, they are wasted out there. I think Emery's preferred formation is a flat back 4, with the fullbacks getting up and down the pitch, two CM's and two wide men, with Auba and Laca up front. I think we badly lacked width last season. The only player who actually caused some problems for the oppo out wide was Kolasinac, but his final ball is terrible.
That would be a 4-4-2 Piskie - I dont think anyone is gonna be winning major trophies with that setup in this day and age. (maybe im wrong though) I would go 3-4-1-2. ------------------------Leno--------------------------- ---------Sokratis--NewCB--Hold/Kos------------ Bellerin---NewCM---Torr/Xhak-----NewLWB -------------------Rabiot/Ozil------------------------- ----------Aubamayang-----Lacazette------------
Not as flat as a traditional 4-4-2 though. The fullbacks act more like wingers and the two CM’s are more like a box to box and a traditional attacking CM.
L'Equipe saying Arsenal have agreed a 5 year deal for William Saliba. Hope this is true - he looks like an absolute animal.
He had a great season for St Etienne last year, does look very good. Only 18 so it will be a big step up into the Premier league. Also reported that were close to signing Alexis claude-maurice from Lorient too.
Being linked to Christopher Nkunku from PSG for £15 Million. He's a good player and would be an absolute steal for that price
We’ve also had a bid of £15m turned down for Keiran Tierney as reported by David Ornstein. 15m seems a bit low these days, but it is only the SPL so hopefully 20m should do it. Looking like he will be our first signing.
