So he is excused because he said if he lost he would walk away? If he really believed all the project fear projections he pumped out then shouldn't he have taken some responsibility for the fallout, rather than walk away and put his trotters up writing his memoirs??

How have I missed this thread!

My favourites are Leadsom and McVey. And I am not being a dirty perve either going by looks <laugh><laugh>

I am going by what they have said about their plans for Brexit. Both saying the right thing to me. Leadsom should have had the job last time instead of May. May being a remainer and Leadsom being very vocal in favour of Brexit during the build up to the referendum. She could have been rightly judged on her role as PM based on what she was saying during the lead up to the referendum. Now May has fukked it right up, whoever gets the job will be like mission impossible. But Leadsom is strong enough to handle the challenge and McVey is saying all the right things. Both I feel would sort it out. Strong characters who won't continue the embarrassment around the world.

But right now neither have the backing from other Tories to challenge Boris. It's Boris's to lose now though. I hope it ain't him though. I hope it ain't backstabbing Gove either. And I definitely don't want Hunt, not after the way he treated the NHS staff over pay. He is a national disgrace to me. And that Rory Stewart just looks funny to me. Looks like Gnorm from that old film Upworld from the late 80's early 90's. No thank you.

Leadsom or McVey please. But I will be disappointed.

I don't think Victoria Derbyshire wants Jeremy Kunt Hunt to win, going by this <laugh<laugh>..... Also don't you think she was being a bit sexist with this too????

he stated after being elected he would not serve a full term he would hand over to a new leader it made no difference had he won or lost the referendum he was going and he went pretty much on schedule … he was true to his word … there would be no issues with him had Brexit been negotiated .. and not been the farce the labour government [ whose MP's were forced to toe the line ] had made it along with a few others .. you cant blame Cameron for that ………..

    This is interesting.
I’m not a Tory so I can look at this without any prejudice.
Boris is the clear favourite - but he has proven himself a liar and a slimy turncoat. He was sacked from the TELEGRAPH believe it or not for lying - he is a former Remainer- and he has only today ‘sidestepped’ the question of whether or not he took hard drugs.
The thing is - the public seem to love him - as the somewhat clumsy buffoon who says it how it is.
Either the public are stupid - or they simply don’t know - or they support him despite his treachery.
Also, whoever takes over will need to win a general election - and it helps to have the public on your side.
I’d be tearing my hear out - do I vote for Boris - the absolute ****er who will say and promise anything to get into number 10, or do I vote for one of the others - a more sensible option but who may be more vulnerable to Corbyn in a general election?
    FFS this country is fkd.

Rod - You can't make it up.
Blue/Red/Yellow or whatever persuasion they're all (every MP), in it for themselves.

And we're daft enough to put up with it.

They don't start out to be liars & cheats but once in a party they become part of the cult of the that establishment...they all end up corrupt to suit.
As for Boris, plonker though he is, I quite like that he's not one of the "same old same old" boring twat that we usually have as prime minister. The worry I do have, the first slip up, or Gaff, the media and snowflakes will be on it like no other....just cus it's expected.....would love to see him in though, if just for the entertainment value, plus I do think he will deliver Brexit............as this country voted..

I think somebody should have stuffed something thick and spikey right up Hammond's wrinkly old *** some time ago to get him to shut the fcuk up. It's mainly because of him that we aren't prepared for the No Deal option.

Nigel Lawson said he should've been sacked ages ago for blocking Brexit and that's good enough advice for me.

Yet another terrible decision by May not to boot out Spreadsheet Phil.

before the referendum … build up to ...he was a leaver how far are you going back? 1 year 3 years 10 years?

Boris what exactly is he saying? or promising to elevate himself into a position that may enhance his chances and as for being a slimy turncoat is this based on your mis apprehension he was once a remainer? although in the lead up to the referendum and after THE GENERAL ELECTION PRECEDING IT he was a leaver .. even did a series with / versus Cameron for a couple of weeks in the months leading up to the vote!!!!… so was Cameron a leaver who changed to a remainer …...

most MP'S / political correspondents of repute …. etc asked about Boris and his drug taking … says it is not important what he or others did at 19 [ which was Boris's ANSWER ] IT IS what they do now mid 50's and how they have, and what they can give the country …..

Boris like [ and ]many others have to say things like that … he wasn't the only one loads said the same … all opposition of course ...its political posturing ….
QUOTE="oneforthebristolcity, post: 12906312, member: 1001243"]Is that the Gordon Brown that sold the countries Gold?!! Possibly one of the reasons Boris had a dig at the time..[/QUOTE]
didn't only sell the bars of gold … he did it on special offer … not a BOGOF … but a BOGEF ….

WE WILL NOW ENTER A PERIOD of calm … NO we wont it will a period of smarmy back stabbing, dirt digging ego busting rants and after each vote it will get more intense … at the moment it is endeavouring to be acceptable to enough fellow MP'S to carry you through to the next round … 10 candidates = about 30 votes each! it is the same 300 mp's ...ish … voting as one drops out it is hoped you keep your supporters and share the lions share of the losers voters … etc etc all the time they are building their case for the other 120, 000 waiting in the wings to elect the next PM …. THEN Corbyn will be in turbo rant … GE let the people decide if you should be PM or it should be me ……….. quoting Boris of 2007

well it certainly was not ladies day ……. so now there is 30 additional votes … and the cut off is you must get 33 on Monday
313 voted so 7 left means equally each candidate would/could get 44 with 5 odd votes assuming ….

    Boris gets his 114
    Hunt gets his 43
then the other 5 could be history! [ equal shares would be less than 33 ]

so say Gove gets his 37

then the other 4 would get less than 30 votes [ = shares ] and just 3 would be up for the last vote before postal.
    HOWEVER.. …
BORIS is likely to poll 130 Hunt 50 and the rest either share the remaining votes or 1 drops out partners another combine votes or maybe 2 or 3 do likewise and collaborate …. an interesting weekend ahead as the time now is the daggers being sharpened and any dirt sifted through …..

times and situations change bcfcrw … It was a completely different scenario 12 years ago … when GB took over from Bliar … Bliar could see the immensely deep deep black hole his leadership of the Labour Party had generated and did a runner leaving Gordon holding the can of worms. and it HAS BEEN an uphill struggle putting that back right where for the past 8- 10 years we have ALL OF US, have had to suffer to pay the debt … austerity …
but back to your reference of double standards you are jumping the gun … you do not know who will win … you do not know if who does ….WILL OR WONT call a GE …. but the whole must be put into context … whilst Bliar did a runner so as not to be besmirched by the disaster his reign had caused TM has given up the reigns because it is a stalemate over one thing ...Brexit .. and whilst the country as a whole is far far far more better off than it was [ eliminate Brexit from any calculations and this government has done wonders ] when GB took over after the Bliar catastrophic disaster...
Brexit needs a new direction and a fresh pair of eyes …. so whoever gets the job will be well within their right to wait to call a general election until the task they are being confronted with ...Brexit ...is sorted

    time for another coffee ………….
