There was a lot of hypocrisy from people regarding Adkins after we went on a good run during the midpart of the season, he was never really my cup of tea and I was probably the most vocal critic but even I have to give him some credit in the end. When the dust has settled we got a solid midtable finish. I had doubts about the lack of progress of strikers like Dicko, Keane and Martin with Adkins coaching, but on the other hand Adkins seemed to work wonders with the wingers. I'm not sure if that was just because the wingers we had/have like Grosicki and Bowen and Wilson are just superb natural talents though who don't need coaching and maybe even Pugh comes in that bracket. The main problem at the club is the owners regardless of who the manager is but you just wonder who is going to be able to work with whats left after all our best flair players leave in the pre-season.

I know its hard... but does anyone have any faith in the Allams to bring in the right manager? Surprisingly I actually do.. I can only think the Adkins appointment was a little underwhelming but look how that turned out... I think we'll see someone decent be appointed soon.
Hull City manager latest: Allams will pay compensation fee to get their man The Tigers are aiming to have a new head coach in place by the time pre-season gets underway on June 24 https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/hull-city-manager-latest-allams-2968093 Surely easier and cheaper to just get Adkins to stay?
I'm not sure I believe this, the Allam's willing to pay compensation to get their man? What they say usually is a pack of lies, just so they can spin something to keep people quiet. The only way I could see the Allam's coughing up would be if there was a buyer in the wings, and they are doing it on because they requested it.
Maybe they thought a 13th place finish from where we were leading up to the final run in was under achieving ? Maybe they thought the offer they made was a good one ? We don't know, it's all speculation. Also if they wanted a cheap option like some on here are saying surely they would have taken up Deano's generous offer ?
Maybe they felt they had to put in a break clause, which Nige couldn't accept, because they believe they will sell the club and new owners would expect there to be a break clause so they can bring in their own man / men should they so wish? .... and maybe pigs can fly?
They'll pay it if that's all they pay for all season. As someone else said a few pages back, £500k on the Cowleys and a bunch of freebies and loans is cheaper than giving Adkins a transfer budget that makes us competitive.
Doesn't ring true given their seemingly strange action around not retaining Adkins. Unless of course Adkins blasted them at the end of negotiations. The Allams are seemingly playing a risky poker game in order to get their original investment + decent return out of their involvement over time. Instability in team management/player recruitment based on poor executive management is not going to attract new ownership if the purchase price is over-inflated. Selling player assets will make the task even more difficult. I haven't reviewed the club financials. Does anyone have a clue how far off the Allams are from getting a decent profit from their tenure ?
That's all we had playing for us during the 'golden era' back as Fer Ark that many fondly and often remise about on here.
No way Crowley’s would come here. They must be completely brain dead I’d they do. They will get bigger crowds and Lincoln than we will! I’ll let that sink in!
I understood that it wasn't just money that put off Adkins, it was some aspect of the contract terms that hasn't quite been explicitly stated but seems to relate to notice periods and suchlike. So there will be money in the pot - but money distributed by an untrustworthy liar who is inserting contract terms that good managers won't like.
Personally think that Nigel signed his own death warrant by quite rightly standing his ground on contract talks, (the Allams don't like people who stand up to them) secondly the fans liked him( he engaged with them) that probably upset jnr, as for paying compensation for a new manager I can see them doing it just to piss people off after losing Nigel.
I'm not sure what a manager of Adkin's ilk would get, but would hazard a guess at £500K. So why not give him a 2 year contract, if they are willing to stump of £500K compensation? Doesn't make sense to me, but there again nothing the Allam's do make much sense.
It's hard to second guess what the Allam's will do now. NA said money wasn't the reason he quit so there is evidently a budget there of some sort. They have surprised us before with Silva then Slutsky, they might do it again.
