Was not a fan of Birdbox, and it did have a fair amount of hype, it generated a ton of memes because of its pretext
Finished watching The Pacific last night. Not ashamed to say there was a couple of times when I shed a tear. Excellent series to show how brutal the war truly was.
Last couple of times I've been I've had fish n chips at a little cafe called Four Seasons just over the bridge north side ! Not bad at all .
'Twas. Next year was even better. Worked the summer at Butlins in Skeggy. No cabbage patch required - the bunk-bed in the chalet or the gritty beach sand sufficed.
Love "Heartbeat" too MrsBMB. Its been shown every Saturday night here for years...never miss an episode. They are back to showing the original series so I'm watching it all over again from the beginning. A real nostalgia trip for me !!!!
Never tire of watching the reruns - same with "All Creatures Great & Small". Wonderful earthy characters, and the scenery sorely missed.
Currently watching Killer Ratings, about the Brazilian TV presenter, accused of arranging the murders he covered on his crime drama show. Interesting stuff.
It is currently on here 5 nights a week having started from the beginning a few months ago with series 1 to 7 and will end in a week or so. Watch it over the evening meal and love how the music from the sixties blends into the episodes. A favourite covers a foot and mouth event and a featured song by the Moody Blues. The last overseas trip before retirement by my husband was arranged so he could attend the Heartbeat Concert held in Birmingham in 1986. Unfortunately I could not get away from my job to join him.
Seeing as we're wandering down memory lane, happened on this compendium of episodes of what I'd forgotten was a brilliant TV series. If you have a couple of spare hours, lots of laughs & social history here...a slight tech blip at around 6:00, but plain sailing thereafter...
Brings back memories Nights in White Satin. Last time I saw the Moody Blues was in Oct '69 @ Leeds U.U. Sat night hop. They played most of the tracks from "Days of Future Past" - up there as one of the best live performances I've ever seen. LUU was brilliant for getting quality acts, and were a favourite venue for many big acts. Line-up either side of Christmas '70 is a sampling of the quality. Any wonder I stayed in Leeds for 7 years. Happy days. 1969 Oct 4 Fleetwood Mac Oct 11 Moody Blues Oct 18 Family Nov 8 Pink Floyd Nov 15 Bonzo Dog & Deep Purple Nov 22 Christine Perfect Nov 29 Graham Bond Organization/Initiation Dec 6 Chicken Shack 1970 Jan 17 Joe Cocker Jan 24 Led Zeppelin Jan 31 Ten Years After Feb 7 Small Faces & Keef Hartley Band Feb 14 The Who….Live @ Leeds Feb 21 John Hiseman’s Collosseum & Marsha Hunt Feb 28 Pink Floyd …. Magic !
I rewatched that recently, it's very underrated. That scene where he is lobbing pebbles into the dead soldiers skull is a really haunting image, its the same actor who is playing Freddy Mercury currently in Bohemian Rhapsody
Just watched I Am Mother - cerebral sci-fi. movie, up there with Moon. If you have watched it, can anyone tell me what happened to the dog and what was the significance of the paper dog left behind for the woman?
Okay, I'll have a go. Spoiler: I Am Mother The Woman was actually Mother's first project and was part of the exam for Daughter. We know that there were others before Daughter as the bones of one are found in the incinerator and the start of the film shows that around 40 years have past since Mother first cracked an embryo out which would make it the right age for Woman. Daughter watched a documentary about domesticated dogs and Woman complained that Daughter wanted to keep her like a pet. But essentially, Woman is Mother's domesticated pet, whom she uses to see if Daughter will be responsible enough to raise the new human race as Mother sees fit. This was horrible to write and I'm sure it's worse to read!
Yep, I am with you. Spoiler: Spoiler Alert The paper dog is to tell Woman that she is a "pet." A usable malleable commodity that can only survive by the dictates/whims of her Master = Mother. I was miffed though by the physical absence of the dog thereafter.
And all series 4 is available too download. If anyone has not seen this excellent series I would recommend starting from episode one series one .
