Good Morning Everyone Cultural Leonesa have made an official approach to Leeds for Under-23s coach Carlos Corberan! Leonesa are owned by the Qatar’s Aspire Academy. If you remember, Leeds formed a partnership with them last year, and even sent Bouy and Ideguchi on loan there. Unfortunately, both could not muster much more than a few substitute appearance between them! It would be worth mentioning that Ideguchi was a first team regular last season with SpVgg Greuther Fürth until his cruciate ligament injury ruled him out of the majority of the season. I would not have thought there would be a great deal of difference between the second tier of the Bundesliga and La Liga 2. At the end of the season Culture Club were relegated to the third tier of Spanish football! Now, they want Corbaran! To make things even more complicated, Ivan Bravo, the owner of the Aspire Academy, and the man who has singled out Corberan, is on the Leeds Utd board!!! Not only has Corbaran been influential in turning around the fortunes of the youngsters at LS11 but has also been a big part of Bielsa's back room staff! The EFL have passed a new rule preventing a repeat of Spygate: "No club shall directly or indirectly observe (or attempt to observe) another club’s training session in the period of 72 hours prior to any match scheduled to be played between those respective clubs." Leeds are being heavily linked with Wolves winger Helder Costa. The 25yo was instrumental in getting Wanderers promoted in the 17/18 season and linked up really well with Barry Douglas!
Morning all I think there are more things going on than meets the eye with Cultural Leonasa, as we got into bed with them because Victor Orta knew Ivan Bravo and Radz was big buddies with QSI. The Aspire Academy was the first thing both clubs got to do together, but so far nothing has worked out in our favor. If things are actually happening behind the scenes for a QSI takeover it could well be a done deal for Corberan to go over and use his Bielsaball knowledge for a season with a view to returning when Bielsa goes? There can never be a time we we return to Big Sam or MoN type managers/coaches. Not updated the transfer sticky because the stories are not confirmed and mainly bollox just yet as everyone on holiday. The confirmed stories are Harrison should be coming back and we have applied to get Costa and White on loan and I imagine some news will start over the next week or so.
Morning all. Re the Corberan thing, tricky decision for him. Become first team coach in Spanish 3rd tier or remain an under 23 coach at a second tier club. Financially Id imagine neither would be hugely rewarding and probably little difference in status. As for him being Bielsas natural successor, I dont buy that at all. Been rumoured on social media etc but has the club ever even hinted at it? i dont think so. The way I see it is if Bielsa wins promotion, he'll likely stay a further season. If he fails, he'll be off and Rads will too or will have sold more lumps of the club to keep it ticking over and will have less control. If there are new outright buyers in the meantime, theyll select the management team they want and that may or may not include Corberan
I agree, if we get the big investment via a takeover I’d imagine they’ll be happy to give Bielsa another season. If Bielsa leaves then those big investors will surely seek a big name coach. Sometimes coaches are just better suited at the U21 or U23 level, they are no good when it comes to handling characters or established players, look at Redfearn. Corberan might be great or he might be working to strict Bielsa orders, I’d imagine the latter. Bielsa would have instructed him to mimic the first team, we’ve seen the players returning from injury and how they are automatically included in the U23s, he doesn’t call all the shots. Let’s also remember he wasn’t responsible for bringing those U23s through the ranks, we had a heavy recruitment drive. Do I want him to remain, of course I do but losing him would be microscopic compared to if we’d lost Bielsa.
Spygate. Irrespective of the 72 hr deadline, Leeds were charged with regulation 3.4, which requires clubs to act in the “utmost good faith” as their actions were said to be culturally unacceptable. Are the EFL saying spying is fine as long as its more than 3 days?
Isn't that tipical of the EFL they can produce rules that can be interpreted in a variety of different ways but also have a rule to hand that they can use to clobber leeds.
Afternoon all. I suspect that Corberan going out to this club might actually a test for him, arranged by the club, to see if he is capable to make the step up to first team coach. Part of a Bielsa succession plan, if you like. The club haven't even made a hint that he's Bielsa's successor? Well how many other teams have the u23 coach in the dugout for the first team? I've never heard of that before. I believe it's part of Bielsa's meticulous planning to train him as his successor, and going out to a 'safe' club to manage is the next phase of his training.
We must wait and see for any developments regarding fresh investment or signings. We do know that Marcelo is staying and we have some of the best young players we have had for years anything else is a bonus. The future looks brighter than its done for a long time.
you might have to wait a bit if youre going down the loan route, many clubs dont let players go out until end of july or as late as early August they like to assess them themselves in pre season,,or use them in their pre season games, usually only a part of their wages get paid by the borrowers so not too keen to let them go too early,
no middle age cant see myself living long enough to see you lot get Promo only go 20 years left at most or are you looking at under 5s
