Buttons been great this weekend. And I know I say it time and time again, but how utterly woeful has Crofty been in the commentary box? He hasn’t got a clue what’s going on.
Am sure Vettels post race antics are fully justified by the Hamilton haters.......... which would be quick as lightning to lambast Hamilton if he did the same. Still, quite amusing.
I know how Vettel feels, yesterday community day was ****ed up and people couldn't get a shiny Slakoth. The stewards at Niantic listened to the fans though and we are having a new day soon. (I sneaked 5 in before it went tits though!)
Anyway Mercedes was still the fastest car today, not sure what problem Bottas had to be so far behind
Have watched it a few times now. Vettel gained an advantage by coming back across the track and blocking, inadvertently or not, Hamilton from getting past, who if it werent for Vettel coming across would have got past. That's all the stewards needed to give a penalty. However, I still think they could have given the option to Vettel to let Hamilton past first, before deciding a time penalty was appropriate. That way we would still have had a race.
You guys still watch this circus as if there is something in it for all of us? Just a cash cow for the sponsors, rigged and rotten to the core. Lewis vs. Ricciardo Monaco - No penalty. This one decides the race and essentially closes any challenge for the championship. Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti echoing sympathy for Seb who drove his heart out. No longer a sport.
That definitely wasn't the stewards thinking. They penalised him for unsafe driving, not for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. I don't you are allowed to tell a driver to give up a place as punishment for the former.
it's quite simple... vettel got a wash from the cars he was closing in on. Friday hamilton hit the wall doing the same in p2. hamilton was well behind when vettel had issue and vettel controlled car.... I cannot see how the hell he could "stop" or "slow" and frankly hamilton had a go. I think he did well to do so and also to back out of it. vettel didn't drive off track and gain an advantage he lost time. hamilton wasn't ahead of him at any point... but had a go. that's racing. I note nobody is whining about ricciardo weaving down the straight and moving twice or three times on bottas, nor was there a penalty. that's racing though. imo hamilton would have passed vettel if he had to. The minute that investigation popped up merc backed off and while they caught up and back off at no time did they try to pass... race was in bag. us fans were robbed and frankly hamilton been robbed of a race win by right cos he should have sailed by imo... well maybe not sailed by but got past. hamilton should have the win and no questions.
Vettel screwed up again. That is not the fault of F1. He tossed away the 2018 WDC also because of his errors and judgement when racing. It is a sport, and a cash cow for its sponsors. But no different on that front to the last 30 years or so. But rigged? Hardly.
I can understand why they gave him the penalty, it's not like he didn't do anything wrong. It just feels wrong in the situation, given it's a race for the win and not the worst thing done in the grand scheme of things. But then we all moan about consistency, it shouldn't matter that it was a battle for the win, they should all be treated the same. There's two sides to every story, this one is a passionate one so we're always going to side on one side and disregard the other in its entirety.
Cba arguing lad, you will always defend this result but today you are the minority i'm sorry. A very sad day for the sport. I'm logging out again until something worth posting happens in this piss-poor joke of a sport. Sorry but that's how it is.
I think it's only a unfair overtakes or keeping the place. At least I've never seen it in any other circumstance. They definitely don't it for gaining a place through an unsafe release from a pitstop. In Buttons last race he should never have been behind Wehrlein to have that crash. They only gave Pascal a time penalty so he continued to hold up the McLaren.
Okay, I thought I had seen previous incidents of a car going off the track and keeping their place, only to be told they have to let the driver behind through. Then again there have been so many tweaks to driving penalty rules its hard to keep up with them all.
