I see Lankester is now out for a few weeks, and Huws has had a set back. Don't think it'll make too much of a difference, we have enough bodies in now to cover any gaps
Lankester is a big blow. Even for a few weeks that is a set back for his development. Huws actually playing would be as rare as a unicorn. Injuries and fitness is definitely an area that we seem to fall well short, but is a lot better this season than in McCarthy's time.
Looks like Keane is out for 6 weeks (according to McCarthy - which is rather odd for him to tell us as opposed to Lambert). Time for Harrison to step up and hopefully do a job he has yet to do for us .
He's still injured as well (apparently) Though not thought to be serious. Though it does only leave us with Quaner and Jackson as recognised strikers in the squad this weekend. With Sears, Keane, Morris, Folami all long term injuries and Drinan out on loan (not really in the picture anyway)
This is the problem Jackson has always had at Town. If called upon on Saturday he has one crucial match to be the hero or no doubt he’ll be out on his ear again. Edwards should be in the thinking. But Will Keane will be a big miss.
Oh well, looks like we'll have to take the tiki-taki approach and go without any recognised forwards - if it's good enough for Spain and Barca, then it's good enough for us
A shame we've got so many attacking injuries. I wonder if Lambert will persist with two up top, because a frontline of Quaner and Jackson is not going to strike fear in Reading's defence and the argument is there that we should draw upon our strongest area on the pitch, which is the midfield. Ripping up the tactical progression from the previous few games to revert to a formation that has not been getting us results is a little concerning though.
Agree that is not likely to work. At a top club the manager would have been working on the different scenarios and making us adaptable, but this is Ipswich Town we’re talking about.
I'd probably go with pushing Judge further forward, and having Bishop/Dozzell as the #10 supporting the forwards
Well - I think that's the case for many a player who hasn't impressed to date I would say. Unfortunately, to date I don't think Jackson's been at it at all - however, appears right now we're likely to play 2 uptop so appears will be Quaner + Jackson as a combination. In my head right now, I'm actually thinking = Willing to take any amount of stick for that in the footballing sense or the theme tune sense haha! Jesus christ - what a front line. That said, if Jackson plays......... scores.......... ( Quaner will perhaps help Jackson a lot in that Quaner is a lot stronger / better at hold up ) so that could work well for Jackson. Could be his shirt for a few weeks here!!! Hope he does well - anyone wearing a blue shirt I always want to do well irrespective of what I think of their ability. Be fantastic if he could make the shirt his own / and prove people like me wrong. Humble pie tastes gooooooooooooood.
This may go down like the plague like my Bodger and Badger comment may, but I don't think Dozzell is remotely strong enough or ready to do much bar perhaps last 15 minutes at this level. May do a few pretty passes well but the rest of his game / off the ball / defensive ability leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. Like to see him and Kenlock in an arm wrestle, be painful.
Our injury hoodoo strikes again https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town...wrist-as-el-mizouni-makes-international-debut Seeing MM’s comments makes me wonder if he reads stuff here.If so,not many of us around here miss you, despite how things have panned out!!
