As it happens I've just finished some fish and chips from Regal on Hessle Road, opposite Rosamund Street. Quite good and the staff called me sir, what's not to like?
The sauce of you, Kemps. You're not going to curry any favour with puns like that. Straight in with the curry sauce on fish and chips gig. I've no fear, me. No ****ing fear.
in the mid 70s i had fish, chip and mushy peas 8 times a week minimum. amazingly i was only 3 stone overweight!!!
On my way...pint of Tetleys, Halibut & Chips & mushy peas. The retired owners came from York & know their onions. Their kids are running the chippy/restaurant now. https://www.blogto.com/restaurants/olde-yorke/
They don't do deliveries - which I've never seen anywhere. Makes sense I suppose as F&C doesn't travel well (grease fatigue !) and needs to be eaten directly out of the fryer with a few minutes of "fat draining" over a a warmed sieve. Edit: My best mate when I lived in Leeds in the '60s owned a chippy in Headingly. Him & his missus essentially kept us alive...place was just round the corner from our local "The Original Oak". The owner of "The Olde Yorke F & C" shop here in Toronto knew of my mate's chippy in Leeds as it had quite a good reputation. Small world.
Usual # Papa's 'fish special' ,chips peas and pattie Pattie slightly over cooked and another part of the order took 15 minutes - I think they forgot it. Not as busy as I thought it would be either
