Know nothing about Goiginger but being 26 and never having a cap for a pretty poor Austrian team and never representing them at any youth levels doesn't exactly fill me with confidence about him. He did have a good season last year though so maybe he is a very late developer, or maybe he just had a good season.

 

Just crossed my mind whether Trump has trumped up a new tariff for him yet.

At age 25 Jamie Vardy was still playing for Fleetwood town, whilst our beloved Sir Rickie Lambert, when turning 26, was having a fairly average season in League One for Bristol Rovers (just 13 goals from 46 games). He signed for us 18 months later.

Go Ginger is Austrian, Ralph is Austrian, so it has got to be someone he knows well. That will do for me, personally.

Yes there are a couple of exceptions to the hundreds of other players who couldn't make the step up at an older age. For every Vardy or Lambert there are lots more who don't fall into that category.

I'm sure Ralph knows everything about every Austrian player seeing as he is from there. Especially one who has never played for their country and has only been playing in the Austrian top flight for 2 seasons. He might have an interest in the domestic league there (ie he supports a team and watches it) but I don't think just because he is Austrian means he will know loads about him.

I'm not saying he can't/won't be able to make the step up, I've never seen him play. But he doesn't really fit with the typical player linked with a PL team (yes I know lots of seasoned top flight and international players flop in the PL as well). Hopefully he is great and is in that Vardy/Lambert category.

Key thing about Djenepo is that he won't need to be registered. Which frees up a space.
