Donald and Methven were always going to have bring in more investment eventually but I'd have been happier if it was Juan, perhaps backed by his wife's dad. At least they'd be a known quantity.

I think his Presidential campaign is an issue. That's my guess.

That was pretty much suggested in something I read. Apparently the primaries don't finish until October so it seems everyone would have had to have waited until then.

Which means he probably won't provide much towards a transfer kitty this window.

Anyone buying any football club in order to turn a profit from "the Premier League cash" is naive beyond belief and I wouldn't want someone so clueless in charge of our club!

Precisely. But the impression I got from Stewie's most recent podcast was that the short term future was looking rosy.

I thought that too - kind of got the impression we won't need a massive investment (we finished 5th and lost less games than anyone in the country other than Man City and Liverpool!). We may need decent relative investment but not the multi millions being spouted by some on twitter

We need enough investment to get out of this league...I don't believe that will involve countless millions. If we do go up...we will find out very soon how much they are willing to put into the club...to get out of the Championship will involve some serious cash.

Exactly. Longer term, I can understand the need for it but the rush to get this consortium in seems a bit odd if all he said was true.

I think "the rush" was instigated months ago, with Stuart and Charlie believing that the club were going up to the Championship.

It's my belief that their arses were squeeking at the thought of having to invest significant sums of money to strengthen the squad and make it fit for purpose. Money they just didn't have at their disposal.

Great shout. They're probably looking at it knowing how far off the playing squad are from Championship level too.

I don't think it's a bad thing, I just don't like that if it is true how Donald and Methven basically lied on the latest podcast.

Like I say though, the noises they have been making would suggest that they were comfortable with the financial situation.

I'll be disappointed too if they were spinning us a yarn on the podcast. I suppose all will become clear in a couple of weeks.

Yeah me too. They suggested no heads of terms or anything was even near at this stage.

Yes now we find out it might be done and dusted by the middle of June. That's just not possible.

Agreed. They are comfortable that the club is in the black and has stopped hemorrhaging money, but their ability to pump significant funds into a rebuild of the squad just isn't there and they know this, hence the need to sell off some of the club shares.

    That's my take on things....

Unless negotiations are much further down the road than we first believed!

Did they lie on the podcast ? I remember them saying that they weren't in it to make quick money and would prefer to stay involved , but if the right deal along then they would consider it. Plus they said different plans for investment (including deals to sell) had been put into place.

Even weeks before the podcast they said they were open for investment.

If it's true then I don't think the timescales are feasible.

They openly said they were open for investment, yes for certain they've always said that.

My issue is that they also said nothing is concrete, no heads of terms signed, nothing really agreed or on the table.

Now this guy might be in by the middle of June. It just doesn't add up to me.

I agree. But what I'm saying is, like Jack, what they've said and what they've done doesn't appear to correlate

PR and business men. There probably wasn't a (concrete) formal agreement in place. Doesn't mean that there wasn't informal discussions last few weeks.
