I can get tickets for the England semi and the final but the flights are a logistical nightmare, involving flying to either Madrid or Barcelona and then 8 hour stopover or fly to Fargo and 5 hours driving. Mmm May watch in telly
I enjoy watching England, especially in the major tournaments but I’m not a massive fan of the nations league. Whilst friendlies were also annoying, adding competitive games in an already congested season (especially for those with clubs playing European footy) just adds to the likelihood of fatigue or potential injury to players. At least with friendlies a manager could experiment, with the nations league we’ve often played the strongest possible side.
I think that getting England in a habit of making semi finals (and hopefully finals) can only be achieved by being competitive and winning with our best team. A winning mentality is something we haven’t had in a long time, and players and fans want this
Yeah valid point that, building a winning mentality is always ideal. I suppose it’s just a balancing act though, because I do think those players involved in European competition could do with a bit of a rest during that period.
They play 90 minutes of football once a week and if in Europe then every 3 days, which isn’t every week even if you add in the cups, so they shouldn’t be tired as they are fitter now than ever and if winning they won’t feel tired. All of this must help us in tournaments as we will play every 4 days on average.
