When we were fighting for our Premiership lives he may have scored the goals that saved us , Palace pulled the plug on the deal and we went down with Naismith . If he was £5m or less then maybe worth a shot but he`s probably worth double that , like Rhodes a bit too expensive and at 29 probably their last contracts . I would rather a 20 to 25 year old up and coming player.
I can imagine us next season, with a Finn and a Swede up front. We'll be known on the continent as Nordic City F.C.!
That looks to be a great find DH. He seems to have all of the qualities at 19 with a huge amount of time and potential to improve. Not cheap at €9m but he could prove to be a great signing and a reasonable option within our budget in a position we definitely need to fill. He could integrate through the U23s and still be on the bench for the first team.
Random transfer titbit: #ncfc were scouting at Dijon v Lens where attacking midfielder, Naïm Sliti "shone". It's not clear if it was him that we were necessarily there for, though. 26 year old LW/CAM, with 8 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances last season in France. Suspect if we were interested, it was an alternative to Roberts.
Posted this on the youth thread, but I'll copy it here because we may well see Idah turning out for the first team in the pre-season: "Adam Idah, Norwich City's 18-year-old striker, scored a brace for the Irish U21s, leading them to a 4-1 win against China U21s with goals in the 56th and 82nd minute, before being substituted. Canaries team-mate Simon Power won his first U21 cap, coming on in the 77th minute, as Ireland made a winning start their Group C campaign at the prestigious Toulon tournament in France. Idah was involved in the build-up to the opening goal, disrupting the Chinese defenders and stepping over a cross from the left from Zak Elbouzedi to allow Aaron Connolly to fire home. Idah has been prolific at youth level for his country and has now racked up four goals in his first two appearances at under-21 level." https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/brace-for-city-striker-as-ireland-u21s-win-in-toulon-1-6086128 Both Idah's goals were from penalties and the video in the article shows that he knows how to take those!
Re: Superman's tweet above ^. £5-6 million is not to be sneezed at - that's effectively a new player fee covered if this Madders transfer happens. https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-james-maddison-sell-on-fee-1-6086414
Just beat me to it Cromer and as you say, it's an extra 25% on the figure that SW was saying is in the transfer kitty. Offer it to SB as a final cheeky offer for JR???
Yes, £5-6m could mean another player or more to spend on each of the players we do sign. Could make a big difference.
Meanwhile, ReadNorwich reckon we're going to "rival Villa for £20m Maupay". Hopefully that saves everyone else from giving the Chelsea-supporting "journalist" responsible the clicks he so desperately craves.
I've just seen an absurd rumour that FLDC are going to DEMAND £4-5m compensation from Chelski if they make FL their next manager!! Should help in 'balancing their books'
Another insight into how SW and DF deal with players and their contracts: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/vrancic-next-in-line-for-city-contract-1-6087260 Interesting the way this encourages an atmosphere of trust: "We had good talks with both before they went," Webber said ahead of Krul's deal being announced. "What we try to do here, myself, Daniel, Delia, Michael and the board, is create an environment where people talk more. Sometimes everything is through an agent and all the rest of it, but it's more like, I can speak to Tim Krul or Mario or whoever and say 'let's talk, where are we all at, how are we going to develop the club further?'. And what's been so special about this group with what's been shown on the pitch and what Daniel has created with them is an unbelievable togetherness and wanting the best for the club. So when you then get to contract talks it actually becomes quite easy because there is a real level of trust, from the club and ultimately myself, but also the player knows that there's that trust and there's not that sort of game playing - because I'm not sat up at the stadium and never see them, seen as a bad guy in a suit. It's a bit more like, we're in this together and we can have hard and honest conversations."
For some really ridiculous transfer speculation, EPL & EFL Transfer Rumours has Darren Huckerby moving to Barcelona for £5m plus Lilan Thuram despite reports Spurs were going to sign him for £3m & Jamie Cureton is moving to Celtic for £7.5m Who comes up with these stupid stories that will never happen???
It's clearly a parody account making up transfer rumours from decades ago with modern pricing. Apparently someone, somewhere finds it funny.
The mention of Mario in RER's post above has been followed up on by the Pinkun - it rather sounds like Vrancic has agreed a new deal, which will probably be announced either in a few days time, or when there's been a particular lull in activity.
IMO, it's BRILLIANT to see how the club is rewarding the endeavours of the hard work and effort put in by ALL the players last season rather than going and spending £Ms on an almost new team!!
